Good morning, Wake Up Right fam! Today’s first word comes courtesy of hip-hop star and mega-producer Pharrell Williams. Even if you don’t know his name, you’ve certainly heard his songs [like ‘Happy’ from Despicable Me 2].

When a reporter from The Hollywood Reporter recently tried to pressure him to talk politics, Williams shot back: “I don’t do politics. In fact, I get annoyed sometimes when I see celebrities trying to tell you [who to vote for]... Shut up. Nobody asked you."

Israel remotely detonates thousands of Hezbollah pagers

Thousands of pagers carried by Hezbollah operatives exploded simultaneously Tuesday afternoon, killing at least 12 and injuring more than 4,000 across Lebanon.

Who is Hezbollah? They’re an Islamist terror organization masked as a political and militant group in Lebanon. The United States has designated them a terrorist organization since 1997 due to their heavy ties to the Iranian regime.

The details: Around 3:30 PM, pagers belonging to Hezbollah terrorists began exploding across the country, mostly in the suburbs of Lebanon’s capital, Beirut.

  • Survivors report hearing their pagers beep and displaying a series of numbers about five seconds before they exploded.

  • Iranian ambassador Mojtaba Amani was reportedly injured when his pager exploded.

Back up: Hezbollah recently distributed more than 5,000 new pagers to replace older models. They use pagers because they fear their cell phones are monitored by Israel.

How did this happen? It’s widely believed that Israel infiltrated Hezbollah's supply chain and was able to implant a highly explosive material called pentaerythritol tetranitrate into new pagers destined for the terrorist organization. These pagers were then detonated remotely by Israel.

  • Osher Assor, managing partner at an Israeli cybersecurity consulting firm, said: “The moment the specific message arrived, the devices were activated. This is unprecedented — both the size and the scale — we haven’t seen something like that before.”

The politics: Kamala Harris was criticized recently for refusing to veer off script when asked how she would approach the conflict between Israel and Hamas/Hezbollah, just repeating, “We need to get this (peace) deal done." This generic answer seems much less likely after yesterday’s events.

David Muir’s ratings tank after showing his anti-Trump bias during debate

David Muir, the anchor of ABC's World News Tonight, saw a significant dip in viewership after his biased performance moderating last week’s presidential debate.

The numbers: Since the debate, Muir's show has averaged 6.7 million viewers, compared to the 7.6 million average pre-debate — a 12% drop off.

Back up: Throughout the debate, Muir and his co-moderator, Linsey Davis, stopped to fact-check Trump five times but offered zero corrections for Kamala Harris — despite her repeating false claims like the debunked Charlottesville hoax.

Trump told Fox News: "Every one of [Kamala’s lies] should have been questioned by David Muir, who I've lost a lot of respect for. Everyone's lost respect for him. It was so ... one-sided. It was one against three."

Zoom out: You know ABC News was concerned about the hit to their credibility because they quickly dispatched Muir to do damage control on their popular daytime TV show ‘Kelly and Mark’ [this is the legacy show of ‘Live with Regis and Kathy Lee’].

  • Muir defensively said: "All of the noise that you hear afterward about ‘which candidate won the debate?’ [and] 'did the moderators win or lose?' — that's just noise."

The cat out of the bag: In an interview following the debate, Linsey Davis admitted to the LA Times that the way they treated Trump was influenced by the previous CNN debate, which led to Biden dropping out of the race, saying, "People were concerned that statements were allowed to just hang and not [be] disputed by the candidate Biden, at the time, or the moderators."

Big picture: Despite the big hit to his ratings, David Muir’s show remains the most-watched evening newscast, highlighting how many Americans get their news from the Disney-owned, biased network.
