Trump eases tariffs on electronics while trade war intensifies

Tariffs and trade wars did not rest over the weekend as President Donald Trump exempted duties on certain electronics while China took new actions against American imports.

Electronics: The Trump administration released guidance saying it would temporarily exempt certain electronics from the latest China tariffs — welcome news for American tech giants like Apple and Microsoft.

  • This would affect items like smartphones, laptops, semiconductors, and more.

  • Uncertainty: There have been mixed messages from the White House on what this means exactly, but Stephen Miller, Deputy Chief of Staff, wrote on X: “These products are subject to the tariff under the original IEEPA on China of 20 percent” — suggesting they avoid the current 145% tariff but are still on the hook for an earlier tariff.

China raises: On Friday, China announced it was raising import tariffs on U.S. goods from 84% to 125%. This came in response to President Trump increasing tariffs on China to 145%.

  • China also restricted the export of rare earth minerals and mangets to the U.S. — two industries it dominates by roughly 60% and 90%, respectively. These are used to create semiconductors, batteries, electronics, and vehicles.

The upshot: The Trump administration says it’s currently in negotiations with 130 countries on trade deals as it seeks to build new supply chains and alienate China

Real talk from G: Chinese President Xi Jinping commented on the trade war recently, saying, “For more than 70 years, China has always relied on itself." Which is laughable. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is a parasitic entity whose entire business model is: steal American intellectual property (IP), use slave labor to manufacture the IP, and sell it back at a fraction of the cost. It’s about time an American president finally says “enough.” There will be some short-term pain. But if we have the stomach for it; our children and their children will be the beneficiaries.

Teen killed parents so he could assassinate Trump

A Wisconsin teen murdered his parents to fund a demented plot to assassinate President Donald Trump and overthrow the United States' government, according to Department of Justice (DOJ) court filings.

The details: Nikita Casap, 17, is charged with murdering his mother (Tatiana Casap, 35) and stepfather (Donald Meyer, 51) in “an effort to obtain the financial means and autonomy necessary" to kill Trump, according to the DOJ.

  • His plan: The DOJ says “he paid for, at least in part, a drone and explosives to be used as a weapon of mass destruction to commit an attack."

Accomplaces: Authorities say Casap was in contact with others who were aware of — and assisted in — his plans.

Manifesto: Casap had a manifesto titled Accelerate the Collapse, which outlined his vision for "a political revolution" and praised Hitler.

Ties to Satanic cult: Casap’s phone reportedly contained materials linked to the Order of Nine Angles — which the FBI describes as a "satanic cult that encourages violence, terrorism, sexual abuse, and child pornography” and encourages “chaos and violence.”

Big picture: This has become a dangerous norm for the left. Since Trump returned to office, several people have been arrested for planning or calling for his assassination. Just last week, a Butler, Pennsylvania man named Shawn Monper was charged for threats to assassinate Trump.

What happens next? Casap is facing a long list of change — both federally and in Wisconsin — including first-degree murder and presidential assassination.

About two months ago, I was at a butcher in my neighborhood and saw a diagram of a cow, with all the cuts of meat labeled. And that gave me an idea for a t-shirt:

DOGE Butcher Shop — but instead of the cow, we use a pig. And the cuts of meat in the diagram represent all the waste, fraud, and abuse being butchered by the Trump admin.

Over the last few weeks, I worked with a really talented graphic designer who brought it to life. And on Friday I got a sample in the mail and I’m happy to say, it came out better than I’d hoped.

Also, my wife told me I had to mention that the t-shirt it’s printed on is Comfort Colors. Apparently, they’re well-known for high-quality materials. I just chose them because they are printed in the U.S. and made with 100 U.S. cotton.
