The left is fighting for an illegal alien MS-13 gang banger

Democrat lawmakers are planning a trip to El Salvador to demand the release of a deported MS-13 terrorist. The move comes as the left tries to shift the narrative on the Trump administration’s removal of illegal aliens.

The details: Democrat Reps. Robert Garcia and Maxwell Frost have requested an official congressional delegation to El Salvador’s CECOT mega-prison, where Kilmar Abrego Garcia — a deported illegal alien with alleged MS-13 ties — is being held.

• Senators Cory Booker and Chris Van Hollen have also expressed plans to travel to El Salvador to demand Garcia’s release.

Back up: The entire charade centers around Garcia, who crossed the U.S. border illegally in 2011 when he was 16. He was later arrested in Maryland in 2019, accused of being affiliated with the MS-13 gang.

• Is he MS-13? Yes. Two separate left-wing immigration courts found that the evidence showed he was a member of the violent gang.

• Withheld from deportation: In October 2019, he appealed to be withheld from being deported to El Salvador due to “threats” of gang violence if he returned home. This order did not rule out his deportation or arrest — just not to El Salvador at the time.

Back to the future: This year, Garcia was arrested by ICE and deported back to his home country of El Salvador under President Donald Trump's executive order targeting foreign terrorist organizations, including MS-13.

Supreme Court weighs in: A legal challenge on the matter made its way to the Supreme Court, and it ruled the Trump admin must “facilitate” the return of Garcia if El Salvador arranges it. However, it did not rule that Trump must bring him back.

What the Trump admin is saying: Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt: “This individual was a member, actually a leader, of the brutal MS-13 gang. Foreign terrorists do not have legal protections in the United States anymore.”

“Maryland man”: Meanwhile, the mainstream media refuses to report the facts that he is 1) illegal and 2) a member of MS-13. Instead, they are painting him as an innocent family man from Maryland.

• An analysis from Newsbusters found that CNN and MSNBC referred to him only as a “Maryland man” 120 times in the past week, while calling him an “illegal alien” seven times.

What do Americans think? A recent poll found 83% of Americans support 'all' or 'some' illegal aliens being deported from the United States.

Trump signs order to slash prescription drug costs for low-income Americans

President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order aimed at slashing prescription drug costs — with insulin reduced to 3 cents for low-income Americans.

The details: Trump’s order takes aim at drug costs and Big Pharma from several angles:

• Insulin: Prices drop to as low as 3 cents for low-income and uninsured patients.

• Epinephrine: Injectable doses fall to $15.

• Cancer drugs: Standardizing Medicare payments for prescription drugs, like cancer treatments, which can lower prices by 60%.

• Generics: Boosted access to biosimilars, which can be up to 80% cheaper.

• Middlemen: Order demands transparency from pharmacy benefit managers and pushes reforms to the entire supply chain.

• Drug importation: States can import lower-cost meds, including for sickle cell.

Back up: In 2020, Trump launched a program to give seniors access to $35 per 30-day supply of insulin. Biden let the program expire and then rolled it into the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and took credit for it.

Eclipsing Biden: The IRA also created the Medicare Drug Pricing Negotiation Program, which allowed Medicare to negotiate drug prices directly with pharma companies for high-cost prescription drugs.

• In its first year in effect under Biden, the program netted a 22% reduction in prices. Trump’s order aims to “eclipse” that number.

Big picture: Roughly 68 million Americans are enrolled in Medicare — meaning these reforms will touch roughly 20% of the U.S. population.
