The SPLC was funding the racism it claimed to fight

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) – the Democrats’ go-to "hate group" watchdog – was just indicted for funneling more than $3 million to groups like the Ku Klux Klan to stage hate crimes.
The details: FBI Director Kash Patel and Acting AG Todd Blanche unveiled that a federal grand jury in the Middle District of Alabama handed down an 11-count indictment against the SPLC for:
wire fraud
bank fraud
conspiracy to commit money laundering
The scam: Between 2014 and 2023, the SPLC secretly paid at least 8 individuals tied to violent extremist groups, including members of the KKK, United Klans of America, Aryan Nations, the National Socialist Movement, and the American Nazi Party.
One leader of the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville was paid roughly $270,000.
Another person embedded in a neo-Nazi group was paid $1 million.
The SPLC used shell companies and prepaid cards to hide the payments.
Wait, but did they actually pay for racism? Yes. According to the indictment:
“F-37 was a member of the online leadership chat group that planned the 2017 "Unite the Right" event in Charlottesville, Virginia and attended the event at the direction of the SPLC. F-37 made racist postings under the supervision of the SPLC and helped coordinate transportation to the event for several attendees. Between 2015 and 2023, the SPLC secretly paid F-37 more than $270,000.00.”
Why it matters: The SPLC has spent decades labeling conservative organizations as "hate groups" and feeding that list to the press, corporations, and law enforcement.
…so they were paying to create the “hate” they claimed to be exposing.
What the SPLC says: Their CEO, Bryan Fair, called the charges "false allegations" and accused the Trump administration of targeting the group politically.
Real talk from G: This is giving me serious Jussie Smollett vibes.

Virginia votes to gerrymander Republicans out of power

Virginia voters narrowly approved a Democrat-drawn constitutional amendment Tuesday that clears the way for a new, gerrymandered district map set to flip four House seats to Democrats in time for the 2026 midterms.
The details: The amendment passed 51% to 49% — a margin of just 88,753 votes with 95% reporting – to allow the Democrat-controlled General Assembly power to redraw the congressional districts.
🗺 Current delegation: 6 Democrats, 5 Republicans
🗺 Target under new map: 10 Democrats, 1 Republican
Quote: Former Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin called it: "The most blatant power grab that has ever been demonstrated."
GOP blew it: Democrats spent $62.3 million on their campaign to approve this amendment – roughly $40.30 per vote. Republicans spent just $20 million – roughly $13.66 per vote. This frugality came despite sitting on an $800 million+ war chest.
Back up: Abigail Spanberger won the governor's race by 15 points last November. Kamala Harris carried Virginia by about 6 points in 2024. Last night’s 2-point squeaker shows how winnable this was.
House math: The GOP is currently clinging to a slim 217-214 majority in the House (with 3 vacancies + 1 independent). Losing four seats in Virginia would make it very difficult to keep Republicans in control.
Map math: Virginia is the seventh state to redraw its map ahead of 2026 – and the tally now tilts blue.
🔴 Texas: +5 GOP
🔴 North Carolina: +1 GOP
🔴 Missouri: +1 GOP
🔴 Ohio: +1-2 GOP
🔵 California: +5 Dem
🔵 Utah: +1 Dem (court-ordered)
🔵 Virginia: +4 Dem
Liar, liar: Gov. Spanberger lied while on the campaign trail last year, promising not to redistrict if she were elected.
What's next: The Virginia Supreme Court now weighs legal challenges that could nullify the result. Former AG Jason Miyares and ex-Rep. Eric Cantor are leading the fight to block the new map in court.
Real talk from G: Let's do the math. Almost half of Virginia voted Republican in 2024. But under this new congressional map, those voters will only have 9% representation in Congress. It's criminal.
