Walls close on Fauci as ally is indicted

The walls are closing in on Dr. Anthony Fauci. With just two weeks left before the statute of limitations expires, his former right-hand man was hit with a federal indictment Tuesday – and Republicans want the boss next.
The details: The Justice Department charged longtime Fauci adviser David Morens for allegedly destroying records and obstructing investigations into COVID-19's origins. He faces up to 51 years in prison.
Five charges: 1 count of conspiracy against the United States, 2 counts of falsifying federal records, and 2 counts of concealing them.
The conduct: Prosecutors say Morens used a private email to evade FOIA requests and discussed making messages "disappear."
The rot goes deep: Morens helped oversee NIH's grant to EcoHealth Alliance, which funneled $750,000 to the Wuhan Institute of Virology for bat coronavirus research.
Refresher: Wake Up Right first reported on the EcoHealth Alliance connection back in February of 2021:
In short: When Obama banned gain-of-function research in 2014 for biosafety concerns, Fauci didn't stop – he outsourced his Frankenstein experiments to EcoHealth Alliance, using taxpayer dollars. EcoHealth then funneled that money to the infamous Wuhan Lab.
Ticking clock: Fauci has until May 11 – five years to the day after his combative Senate testimony – before the legal window to charge him slams shut.
What could they charge Fauci with? He told Congress under oath that NIH "categorically has not funded gain-of-function research" in Wuhan.
NIH deputy director Lawrence Tabak later admitted, under questioning, that the agency had funded such research.
The autopen problem: Joe Biden's preemptive pardon shielded Fauci for any offenses dating back to 2014 — but Trump argues the autopen pardons are invalid.
The last word goes to Oversight Project President Mike Howell, who said: “99% of this country has no idea who Morens is. It’s Fauci that they will blame for one of the worst government catastrophes in history in America. And so the test is Fauci..”
We’ve got less than two weeks to see if the Trump administration will pull the trigger on a Fauci indictment.

FBI raids 20+ Somali fraudsters

Federal agents descended on more than 20 Minneapolis locations Tuesday in a coordinated takedown of an alleged Somali-run childcare fraud scheme – the latest blow in what the Trump administration calls a top FBI priority.
The details: The FBI, working with DHS and state and local partners, executed 22 federal search warrants across the Twin Cities, hitting facilities accused of billing taxpayers for childcare they never provided.
Targets included Quality Learning Center and Baby Halimo Child Care, both in Minneapolis. The former went viral for misspelling “Learing” on their sign (see photo above).
Why it matters: The state's childcare and food-aid programs have become a national symbol of welfare fraud run amok – and Tuesday's raids signal the dam is breaking.
Back up: Citizen journalist Nick Shirley made the fraud a national story when his December investigative report uncovered over $110 million in suspected fraud in a single day on the ground in Minneapolis. The video went viral, and FBI Director Kash Patel publicly declared Minnesota's fraud schemes a "top FBI priority."
Big picture: FBI Director Kash Patel has called Minnesota just the "tip of a very large iceberg," and Vice President JD Vance's White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud is already making good – last week referring 562,000 pandemic-era loans worth $22.2 billion in suspected fraud the Biden administration "deliberately protected" to Treasury for collections.
