Welcome back, Wake Up Right fam! The humble Post-It note was released on this day 46 years ago. Which got me thinking… What if Congress was forced to fit all legislation on a single tiny stick note? No room for pork. No sneaky provisions. If it doesn’t fit, it doesn’t pass.
The Post-It Act. You heard it here first.

U.S. pulls off an impossible rescue mission deep inside Iran

U.S. special operations forces successfully rescued an injured Air Force colonel behind enemy lines in the mountains of Iran early Sunday – one of the most dramatic combat extractions in decades.
The details: The colonel was the weapons-systems officer aboard an F-15E Strike Eagle [call sign "Dude 44”] shot down Friday over southwestern Iran.
The pilot was recovered within hours, but the unidentified weapons-systems office ejected into the Zagros Mountains and vanished 200 miles inside enemy territory.
He climbed a 7,000-foot ridge while seriously injured and hid in a crevice for 36 hours with only a handgun for defense.
Calling home: After reaching the ridge, the colonel radioed three words: "God is good." U.S. intelligence used his emergency beacon and CIA assets in the region to locate him.
Protecting the package: Once U.S. forces identified his location, MQ-9 Reaper drones struck Iranian forces that got within two miles of his position.
Iranian bounty: Iran's state TV broadcast a $60,000 bounty – more than 10 times the average household income – urging tribespeople to hunt him down.
Perspective: A captured American on Iranian state TV would have been a devastating propaganda weapon – leverage for Tehran to extract major concessions.
The operation: Around 100 special operations forces launched a sprawling rescue operation with dozens of aircraft, including B-1 bombers, dropping nearly 100 2,000-pound satellite-guided bombs.
Two $100 million MC-130J transport planes got stuck at a makeshift airstrip inside Iran. Three backup aircraft were dispatched.
All stranded aircraft were destroyed in place to protect sensitive tech.
Zero U.S. casualties.
The last word goes to President Trump, who, hours after the mission was completed, wrote on Truth Social: "WE GOT HIM!” and concluded, “We truly have the best, most professional, and lethal Military in the History of the World. GOD BLESS AMERICA.”
Trump will hold a press conference today at 1 PM ET.

Vance’s fraud task force cracks down on Newsom’s California

Vice President JD Vance's anti-fraud task force just tripled its California crackdown in a single week, suspending 221 hospice and healthcare providers in Los Angeles accused of stealing tens of millions of dollars from taxpayers.
The details: The 221 suspensions represent a 216% spike from the 70 providers cut off just one week earlier.
FBI and SWAT teams raided multiple locations Thursday morning as part of "Operation Never Say Die," arresting 11 defendants tied to more than $50 million in alleged fraud.
Two individuals were arrested in connection with an alleged $7 million scheme alone.
The scale: Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz said, "In 10 weeks, we’re getting close to what Governor Newsom did in four years" to uncover fraud.
It might be worse at the state level. The Vance task force is looking for federal fraud. But a recent investigation from City Journal revealed the state-level fraud could be even worse, estimating at least $180 billion in taxpayer money has been stolen from California's biggest government programs under Governor Gavin Newsom.
The alleged fraud spans unemployment insurance, Medi-Cal, welfare, and homelessness initiatives.
Zoom out: Vance and Newsom could end up facing off against each other in the 2028 presidential election.
It's a national issue: The task force previously withheld $259.5 million in Medicaid funding from Minnesota over fraud concerns – a move that preceded Governor “Tampon” Tim Walz's announcement that he wouldn't seek a third term.
VP Vance has said they’ve uncovered at least $19 billion in fraud in Minneapolis alone.
The last word goes to Vance, who wrote on X: “Ending the fraud industrial complex is about putting the interests of American citizens first.”
