Artemis crew breaks record
Four American and Canadian astronauts just completed the farthest crewed space voyage in human history – earning praise from President Donald Trump, who called them “modern-day pioneers.”
The details: The Artemis II crew [NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, along with Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen] looped around the far side of the moon Monday, reaching a maximum distance of 252,760 miles from Earth.
That shattered Apollo 13's 1970 record by more than 4,100 miles.
The astronauts spent nearly seven hours observing parts of the lunar far side never before seen by human eyes.

Mamdani rolls out DEI across NYC
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani released the city's first-ever "racial equity plan" on Monday, directing 45 city agencies to filter their work through a race-based framework — and it took about five minutes for Trump's DOJ to flag it as potentially illegal.
The details: The plan lays out over 200 agency-level goals, 800 proposed strategies, and roughly 600 performance indicators designed to track racial disparities across housing, education, income, and public health.
