Back from the brink: Trump and Iran agree to a ceasefire
President Donald Trump pulled back from the brink Tuesday night – announcing a two-week cease-fire with Iran just 90 minutes before his own deadline for devastating strikes.
The details: The cease-fire, brokered with help from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, requires Iran to immediately and fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz – the chokepoint through which 20% of the world's oil flows daily.
The administration received a 10-point proposal from Iran that it considers a "workable basis" for negotiations.
Caveat: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu backed the deal but said the cease-fire does not include Lebanon, where the IDF continues striking Hezbollah targets.

Madman rhetoric: On Monday, Trump said the U.S. had a plan to achieve "complete demolition" of every bridge and power plant in Iran if the Strait was not reopened.
Then, on Tuesday morning, he posted on Truth Social that, "A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.”
The meltdowns: Critics (including right-wing voices like Alex Jones and Marjorie Taylor Greene) reacted to Trump's "whole civilization” warning, even calling for the 25th Amendment to remove him from office.
Real talk from G: Using inflammatory rhetoric as leverage is vintage Trump. He once told President Xi Jinping he’d bomb Beijing if China moved on Taiwan, later saying the Chinese leader believed him “10 percent” – which he said was enough to get him to behave. Boston Dems sent a therapist to a sword fight
Boston's progressive experiment in replacing cops with mental health workers crashed into reality Saturday when a clinician was knocked to the ground, and a police officer was stabbed by a sword-wielding man in crisis.
The details: Officers responded around 10:45 a.m. after 29-year-old Jacob Graves called 911, claiming four armed people wanted to kill him at his apartment. Police found no one, but determined that Graves was in psychiatric distress and called in a mental health clinician.
The clinician spent roughly 45 minutes talking to Graves through the locked door before he pushed it open and attacked.
Graves stabbed a police officer in the arm with a sword and knocked the clinician to the ground.
Officers fired tasers and their weapons, and Graves died at a nearby hospital.
Two EMS workers and multiple officers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
