Trump coordinates with Zelensky

President Donald Trump’s White House summit with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders pushed the idea of U.S.-coordinated security guarantees for Ukraine - a slight, but important deviation from American boots on the ground.

The details: Following the full-day summit, Trump confirmed on Truth Social:

  • “I had a very good meeting with distinguished guests… During the meeting we discussed Security Guarantees for Ukraine, which Guarantees would be provided by the various European Countries, with a coordination with the United States of America.”

Who’s who: In addition to Trump and Zelensky, several European leaders tagged along, including:

  • 🇫🇷President Emmanuel Macron of France

  • 🇫🇮President Alexander Stubb of Finland

  • 🇮🇹 Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy

  • 🇬🇧 Prime Minister Keir Starmer of the U.K.

  • 🇩🇪 Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz

  • 🇪🇺 President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen

  • 🌐 Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte

Zelensky gets coordinated: The Ukrainian president echoed Trump’s switch to calling for “coordination,” saying: “It is important that the United States of America sends a clear signal that they will be among the countries that will help coordinate and will also be participants in the security guarantee for Ukraine.”

What’s the difference? Weekend reports suggested that Article 5-like security gaurentees were on the table, which could have meant U.S. boots on the ground in Ukraine. Trump is making a point to broadcast that those western gaurentees are European boots - not American.

Calling Putin: Axcording to reports, Trump called an audible in the middle of his meeting with the Europeans to make call to Putin to begin setting up a bi-lateral meeting with him and Zelensky.

Zoom out: The public portions of yesteday’s summit were positive and (dare I say) friendly. A stark contrast to the last time Zelensky was in at the White House.

Tri-lat: Trump revealed that following his meeting with Zelensky, he called Russian President Vladimir Putin to begin arranging a trilateral meeting with the three leaders.

Real talk from G: We still need to learn exactly what “coordination” means. One acceptable scenario (to me) would be allowing Europe to purchase U.S. weapons for Ukraine. I would not be keen on U.S. tax dollars funding the war machine. Trump seems to agree, and said the Europeans would “take a lot of the burden.”

Learn from this investor’s $100m mistake

In 2010, a Grammy-winning artist passed on investing $200K in an emerging real estate disruptor. That stake could be worth $100+ million today.

One year later, another real estate disruptor, Zillow, went public. This time, everyday investors had regrets, missing pre-IPO gains.

Now, a new real estate innovator, Pacaso – founded by a former Zillow exec – is disrupting a $1.3T market. And unlike the others, you can invest in Pacaso as a private company.

Pacaso’s co-ownership model has generated $1B+ in luxury home sales and service fees, earned $110M+ in gross profits to date, and received backing from the same VCs behind Uber, Venmo, and eBay. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

Trump is crushing crime in D.C.

President Donald Trump’s federal crime crackdown in Washington, D.C. is bearing immediate results – with violent crime plunging and hundreds of dangerous suspects off the streets.

The details: U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced yesterday that in the first seven days, there had been nearly 400 arrests – including homicide offenders, drug traffickers, and armed robbers. And according to the D.C. Police Union, this is how the crime stats compare to the previous seven days:

  • Carjacking: ⬇️ 83%

  • Robbery: ⬇️ 46%

  • Violent crime: ⬇️ 22%

Zoom out: 1,600 National Guard troops are currently deployed across D.C., alongside FBI, DEA, and DHS agents. Another 700 troops will arrive this week to expand coverage.

Back up: Last week, President Trump federalized the D.C. police, invoking his authority under Section 740 of the Home Rule Act and declaring a "crime emergency" in the city.

What the left is saying: D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser currently has a post pinned to the top of her X profile arguing that city crime is at a 30-year low.

The data: Prior to Trump federalizing D.C., it saw a homicide rate of 27.3 per 100,000 residents – the fourth-highest in the nation. For perspective, that's nearly six times higher than NYC, Chicago, or Compton.

The last word goes to journalist Katie Pavlich, who wrote on X:

  • “First time at Union Station this morning since Trump’s crime crackdown and there wasn’t a single crazy person screaming, vagrant or person doing drugs. Instead, lots of families visiting D.C. Wonderful!!!”

A few months ago, I was at a butcher in my neighborhood and saw a diagram of a cow, with all the cuts of meat labeled. And that gave me an idea for a t-shirt:

DOGE Butcher Shop — but instead of the cow, we use a pig. And the cuts of meat in the diagram represent all the waste, fraud, and abuse being butchered by the Trump admin.

Over the last few weeks, I worked with a really talented graphic designer who brought it to life. And on Friday I got a sample in the mail and I’m happy to say, it came out better than I’d hoped.

Also, my wife told me I had to mention that the t-shirt it’s printed on is Comfort Colors. Apparently, they’re well-known for high-quality materials. I just chose them because they are printed in the U.S. and made with 100 U.S. cotton.
