Trump protects girls’ sports

President Trump signed an executive order prohibiting biological male athletes who identify as ‘transgender’ from competing in female sports, calling it “the end of the war on women’s sports.”

The details: The order, titled 'Keeping Men Our of Women's Sports,' mandates that federal agencies enforce Title IX based on biological sex assigned at birth.

• It directs the Department of Education to investigate and potentially withdraw federal funding from educational institutions that allow transgender women to compete in women's sports.

2028 Olympics: Trump also plans to prohibit trans athletes from competing in the 2028 Olympics, which take place in the United States. During the signing ceremony, Trump declared: "In Los Angeles in 2028, my administration will not stand by and watch men beat and batter female athletes.

• Trump’s order instructs the Department of Homeland Security to deny visas to athletes trying to enter the U.S. under a gender identity that does not align with their biological sex.

Back up: Last year, the Biden regime attempted to rewrite Title IX also to include protections for people’s ‘gender identity.’

The left’s reaction: Unsurprisingly, the Washington Post yesterday framed the order as an “attack on transgender rights.”

Big picture: Trump signed this historic order surrounded by female athletes, young school girls, and activists like former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines. As the sea of women and girls swelled around him, he joked to Secret Service, “If we have to worry about them, we have a bigger problem. What a nice picture this is!”

Trump closes loophole exploited by cheap Chinese retailers

President Donald Trump’s latest tariffs took direct aim at China’s e-commerce giants — Shein and Temu — by suspending a trade loophole that helped them flood the U.S. market with cheap goods.

The de minimis loophole is a U.S. trade regulation that allows imports of $800 or less to bypass tariffs and avoid extensive inspections.

Exploiting de minimis: For years, Chinese retailers like Shein and Temu exploited de minimus to gain a major foothold in the United States.

• A 2023 House committee report found that Temu and Shein account for 30% of all packages shipped to the U.S. daily

Trump closes the loophole: Last week, when Trump signed an executive order putting a 10% tariff on Chinese imports, he included a provision to close the de minimis loophole.

Zoom out: De minimis shipments surged over 600% over the last decade, surpassing 1.36 billion packages in 2024.

Big picture: Foreign fast-fashion companies hurt U.S. e-commerce companies by flooding poor-quality junk into the marketplace. This is a win for American businesses.
