Good morning, folks! Joe Biden gave his farewell address last night to an American public that overwhelmingly disapproves of his time in office [he leaves with a -17.4 % net approval] and warned of an emerging “oligarchy... that literally threatens our entire democracy."
An “oligarchy.”
For decades, our country has been run by a small group of people who have shipped our jobs overseas, imported new low-cost workers, enriched themselves and their friends, and priced U.S. citizens out of the American dream. Donald Trump’s re-election represents the overthrow of the oligarchy, not the establishment of it.
And Joe Biden’s farewell speech was the last, gasping cry of an oligarch who spent 50 years in Washington, selling us out to enrich himself. Good riddance, scumbag.

Trump brokers peace deal between Israel and Hamas
Israel and Hamas have reached a peace agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza and the return of hostages — a major foreign policy win for Donald Trump before even taking office.
The details: Both sides agreed to a three-phased deal that will begin with a 6-week end to the warfighting, the return of roughly three dozen hostages being held by Hamas, and the release of hundreds of prisoners currently detained by Israel. Israel will also begin to withdraw from population centers in Gaza but will maintain a buffer zone.
The hostages: Hamas revealed they are currently in possession of 98 hostages. The mere acknowledgment of the total is a new development. In the coming days, an estimated 33 of those hostages will be released.
The remaining hostages will be part of the next phase(s) of the negotiations.
The four Americans held by Hamas will be part of the first phase releases.
The politics: While Joe Biden has tried to claim responsibility for this breakthrough, it is very clear that the driving factor was President-elect Trump, whose team has been recognized by both Israel and Biden insiders.
Even the Biden State Department admitted: “When it comes to the involvement of President-elect Trump's team, it has been absolutely critical in getting this deal over the line."
Back up: For weeks, Trump has been making clear his intentions if the hostages are not returned before he takes office. Last week, he said:
“If they’re not back by the time I get into office, all hell will break out… And it will not be good for Hamas.”
Breaking: This morning, Israel delayed its cabinet vote to certify the deal, claiming Hamas was reneging on parts of the agreement. Hamas claims it is “committed” to the truce.
Big picture: The deal is scheduled to take effect on Sunday, one day before Trump takes office.

Goodbye, red dye
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officially banned the use of Red 3, a food dye derived from the chemical Erythrosine.
The details: The FDA announcement said it was “revoking the authorization for the use of FD&C Red No. 3 as a matter of law” and said manufacturers “in food and ingested drugs will have until January 15, 2027 or January 18, 2028, respectively, to reformulate their products.”
What is Red 3? It's a synthetic dye derived from petroleum that gives food a bright, cherry-red color, primarily used in candy, cakes, frostings, and ingested drugs.
Why was it banned? The FDA has for years known the dye causes cancer in lab rats and has been linked to hyperactivity issues in children as well as allergic reactions.
Zoom out: Oddly, the FDA banned the use of Red 3 in cosmetics nearly 35 years ago due to potential cancer risks. So you can’t put it on your face, but you can eat it? It’s also banned or restricted in the European Union, Australian, and Japan.
Why now? Three letters: RFK. President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services and “Make America Healthy Again.” RFK Jr. has been vocal about his desire to eliminate chemical additives in foods that harm people. It looks like the FDA is trying to get ahead of it.
