The Art of FAFO

Colombia's Marxist president was beaten into submission by President Donald Trump on Sunday after the South American leader refused to take back criminals being deported by the United States.
How it started: Early Sunday, Colombian President Gustavo Petro wrote on X: "I deny the entry of American planes carrying Colombian migrants into our territory. The United States must establish a protocol for the dignified treatment of migrants before we receive them.”
Trump unloads: In a post on Truth Social, Trump shot back, announcing “urgent and decisive retaliatory measures,” which included:
📈 25% tariff on all Colombian imports, increasing to 50% in one week
🚫 travel ban & visa sanctions on officials, family, and supporters of Petro
🚢 enhanced inspections of all Colombian nationals and cargo
💳️ financial sanctions
Petro caves: Less than one hour after Trump’s social media post, Petro's office released a statement saying:
“The Government of Colombia, under the direction of President Gustavo Petro, has arranged the presidential plane to facilitate the dignified return of the compatriots who were going to arrive in the country today in the morning, coming from deportation flights."
Capitulation: In the ultimate sign of defeat, Petro retweeted a message from Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, which stated: “🚨The Government of Colombia has agreed to all of President Trump’s terms.”
Weird Democrat attacks: In the middle of the dust-up, Democrats like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez screeched on social media, saying: “To ‘punish’ Colombia, Trump is about to make every American pay even more for coffee.”
…because her Starbucks is more important to her than removing violent criminals. For the record, no lattes were harmed.
Who is Petro? A very weird guy. In his younger years, he was part of a Communist guerilla movement called M-19. He ascended to the presidency in 2022, promising to demilitarize the country’s narco-guerilla groups, but has failed to do so. To top it off, the married man found himself in scandal after being spotted in Panama cozying up to a transgender biological man.
Big picture: This encounter sends a very clear message to any country considering being uncooperative with deportations: Trump will do this the easy way or the hard way.
After the dust settled, Trump shared an AI image of himself on Truth Social with the acronym “FAFO” on it [below]. If you’re not familiar with the term, it means “F*** Around and Find Out”

China releases cheap AI tool to destabilize U.S. economy

China’s new artificial intelligence (AI) rival to Chat-GPT is an act of economic aggression against the United States.
The details: Chinese tech firm DeepSeek shook up the tech world over the weekend, showcasing its R1 AI chatbot model that rivals U.S. models like ChatGPT.
Silicon Valley heavyweight Marc Andreessen called it "one of the most impressive breakthroughs" he's seen.
Here’s the kicker: DeepSeek created this AI model with a fraction of the capital and resources it has taken Western companies.
DeepSeek trained R1 at a fraction of the — $5.6 million compared to roughly $1 billion for OpenAI.
DeepSeek achieved this despite having access to fewer and less advanced chips as U.S. developers.
Why this matters: Tech companies, especially those investing heavily in AI, propped up the U.S. stock market in 2024. If China creates a market with cheap competitors, it will hurt American tech companies and the U.S. economy as a whole.
On more kick: DeepSeek made their AI open-source. That means the software code behind the model is free for the public to use and duplicate. This increases the likelihood of cheap competitors for U.S. tech firms.
The reaction begins: As I write this [early Monday morning], U.S. stock futures are tumbling — particularly Nvidia — caused by investor fears over cheap Chinese AI.
App stores: DeepSeek is currently the number one downloaded app on the Apple App Store. Meanwhile, China does not allow its citizens to access ChatGPT.
Censorship: Users note DeepSeek's AI model promotes Chinese propaganda and does not allow criticism of Xi Jinping.
Zoom out: This comes as President Donald Trump has made AI dominance a cornerstone of his economic agenda — recently launching a $500 billion private investment geared towards developing AI infrastructure in the United States.
Real talk from G: DeepSeek is not a financial venture for the Chinese Communist Party. It’s an economic warfare tool. I look forward to seeing how the Trump administration reacts.
