Court rules handgun bans for 18-20 year olds is unconstitutional

A federal appeals court ruled that the government cannot prohibit federally licensed gun dealers from selling handguns to 18-to-20-year-olds, striking down a restriction in place since 1968.

The details: In their ruling, the Fifth Circuit’s three-judge panel ruled unanimously that 18-year-olds are part of “the people” protected by the Second Amendment and thus cannot be banned from purchasing handguns.

• Judge Edith Jones wrote: “Ultimately, the text of the Second Amendment includes eighteen-to-twenty-year-old individuals among ‘the people’ whose right to keep and bear arms is protected."

Back up: The lawsuit came after the Biden regime tried to argue that the handgun ban was allowed due to the “nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation”

Historical precedent: Judge Jones noted that the Second Amendment exists to “prevent the elimination of the militia” and pointed to founding-era documents that show 18-year-olds were old enough to fight in militias.

Trans person tried to kill Trump’s pick to lead Treasury

A 24-year-old transgender person was arrested at the U.S. Capitol for attempting to assassinate top Republican allies of President Donald Trump.

The details: On Monday, Ryan Michael English — a biological male who believes he’s a woman and calls himself 'Riley Jane' — came to the U.S. Capitol armed with Molotov cocktails, a knife, and a lighter. However, upon entering, he got cold feet, approached the police, and told them, "I'd like to turn myself in.”

His plans: English told police he planned to kill Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent — the highest-ranking openly gay person in the Trump administration. Court affidavit says English planned to throw the Molotov cocktails at Bessent's feet and/or stab him with the knife he brought.

• English initially planned to kill Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth and/or Speaker Mike Johnson but decided to target Bessent after seeing news reports on his confirmation.

Why? According to court a court affidavit, a note was found in English's pocket seemingly meant for somone he knows in case he was killed during his "mission." It read:

• “This is terrible but I cant do nothing while nazis kill my sisters… F*ck them for pushing us so far.”

Inspired by a killer: English said the attack was inspired by Luigi Mangione, the man who killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last year, telling police:

• “I had been thinking about for this for a while because of Luigi Mangione. I have seen the response to that and that situation.”

Big picture: This comes just as we learn that the U.S. Border Patrol agent killed near the Canadian border on January 20 was attacked by a radical leftist transgender militant cult.
