Zuck promises to restore free speech on Meta

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg pledged to restore free speech on Facebook and Instagram — while taking jabs at the Biden regime and legacy media.

The details: In a five-minute video posted to the CEO’s personal profile, Zuckerberg began by saying, "It's time to get back to our roots around free expression on Facebook and Instagram."

No more fact-checkers: Most notably, Zuckerberg vowed to “get rid of fact-checkers and replace them with community notes, similar to X… The fact-checkers have just been too politically biased and have destroyed more trust than they created."

• He explained that due to pressure from "governments and legacy media," Meta developed "complex systems to moderate content,” but it resulted in wrongly censoring “millions of people.”

More changes: Zuckerberg also pledged to:

• moving the content moderation team from California to Texas

• end restrictions on topics like immigration and gender

• stop de-emphasizing political content

• work with Trump to push back against countries censoring speech

Throwing shade at Biden: In his video, Zuckerberg threw multiple digs at the Biden regime, noting that: "even the U.S. government has pushed for censorship" over the last four years.

• Recall, back in 2023, Rep. Jim Jordan revealed subpoenaed government e-mails proving that the Biden regime was coercing Meta to censor posts related to COVID-19.

Back up: This announcement came just days after UFC President and Trump-ally Dana White was named to Meta’s board. It comes roughly one month after Zuckerberg met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago and later donated $1 million towards the president-elect’s inauguration fund.

Big picture: Is this a genuine moment of clarity by Zuck, or is he simply trying to ingratiate himself with the new administration? Only time will tell.

President-elect Donald Trump re-affirmed his desire to make Greenland a part of the United States — even by military force.

The details: During a wide-ranging press conference yesterday, Trump reiterated his call to absorb Greenland, saying: "We need Greenland for national security purposes."

• He added on Truth Social: “Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation. We will protect it, and cherish it, from a very vicious outside World. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!”

Military force: One reporter asked Trump to pledge not to use military or economic coercion to take Greenland or the Panama Canal [we’ll talk about that another day]. Trump replied with a stone face: “No.”

Who does Greenland belong to? While the 836,331 square mile icy island in the North Atlantic is an autonomous, self-governing territory of roughly 65,000 people — Denmark claims ownership.

• Trump questioned Denmark’s claim to the territory, saying: "People don't even really know if Denmark has any legal right to it. But if the do, they should give it up because we need it for national security. That's for the free world. I'm talking about protecting the free world."

Don Jr. visits Greenland: On the same day, Donald Trump Jr. visited Greenland, where he met with Trump fans who support becoming part of the United States.

What the Danes are saying: Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said Greenland is not for sale.

Why does Trump want Greenland? It is a major national security asset due to its strategic location between the United States and Russia. Its importance increases as Russia and China explore creating military and shipping navigation lanes in its waters. Additionally, it is rich in oil and rare earth minerals.
