Los Angeles burns

Uncontained wildfires in the greater Los Angeles area have blazed a path of death and destruction as tens of thousands of citizens are forced to flee for safety while the incompetent state and local government fails to bring solutions.

The details: Hurricane-force winds, combined with very dry drought conditions, have led to multiple wildfires burning out of control across Los Angeles County — beginning in the Pacific Palisades on Tuesday and last night reaching the Hollywood Hills.

• 5 deaths are confirmed

• 2,000+ homes/buildings have been destroyed or damaged

• 100,000+ people were forced to evacuate.

Uncontained: As of this morning, the fires are still considered 0% contained.

How can this happen? While the left blames climate change, practical questions have been raised as to why a state that experiences wildfires every year appears completely unprepared. And the actions of three California leaders have been rightly criticized:

• LA Mayor Karen Bass cut the LA Fire Department budget by $17.6 million dollars just months before this historic blaze. Bass is also being blamed for water system mismanagement, which led to many fire hydrants being out of water as firefighters tried to fight the blaze. Adding insult to injury, Bass was also criticized for being out of the country on a taxpayer-funded trip to Africa, even as fire warnings began days before her departure.

• California Gov. Gavin Newsom was criticized by many, including President-elect Donald Trump, for overregulating California’s water systems to appease environmental groups. Newsom diverted millions of gallons of water into the ocean rather than allow it to run toward many affected areas.

• LA Fire Chief Kristin Crowley, the first female LGBTQ chief in LA, has been criticized for prioritizing DEI, increasing the number of female firefighters, and following "sustainability" measures to be more "eco-friendly."

Adding insult to injury: Due to California's mismanagement, many insurance companies were forced to leave the state and, just weeks ago, canceled the policies of many of the residents who just had their homes burned down.

Democrats will say Newsom signed a bill in 2021 directing over $15 billion to combat wildfires. However, that bill did not include money for water storage projects.

Trump was right: The president-elect raised this issue when he sat down with Joe Rogan in October. He told the influential podcaster:

• "In order to protect a tiny little fish [the smelt], the water up north gets routed into the Pacific Ocean. Millions and millions of gallons... I could have water for all of that land… So I looked into… It was the Department of Commerce that needed the approvals. But Gavin Newsom had to sign them. I got it all done... And that guy didn't want to sign."

Trump tells Newsom to resign: In a post on Truth Social yesterday, Trump wrote: “One of the best and most beautiful parts of the United States of America is burning down to the ground. It’s ashes, and Gavin Newscum should resign. This is all his fault!!!”

Big picture: This will likely go down as the most financially destructive wildfire in California history. And we have tremendous sympathy for those affected who lost their homes or, worse, their lives. But it didn’t have to be this way. Every layer of leadership is inept and they have one thing in common: They’re Democrats.

UK liberals reject inquiry into Muslim rape gangs

Warning: There are graphic details in this article.

Liberals in the British Parliament rejected a proposal by Conservatives for an inquiry into Pakistani Muslim grooming gangs that target white girls.

The details: The Conservative Party sought to amend the Children's Wellbeing and Schools bill to include the inquiry, but it was rejected 364 to 111. Just the Conservative and Reform Party lawmakers voted for it.

Why was it rejected? British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer claims that inquiries have already taken place but neglects to mention that none have been nationwide or have they resulted in actions taken against officials who turned a blind eye to the heinous crimes.

Zoom out: This issue gained national attention in the United States last week when Elon Musk began posting about it on X, accusing Starmer of covering up the rape gangs. In post, he wrote:

• “Starmer was complicit in the RAPE OF BRITAIN when he was head of Crown Prosecution for 6 years,” Musk wrote. “Starmer must go and he must face charges for his complicity in the worst mass crime in the history of Britain.”

Warning, GRAPHIC: This issue goes back more than a decade. The following is one excerpt from a recent report in The Telegraph, which highlights the depravity of these gangs:

• “Mohammed prepared his victim ‘for gang anal rape by using a pump... You subjected her to a gang rape by five or six men. At one point she had four men inside her. A red ball was placed in her mouth to keep her quiet.’”

Whitewashing: The Telegraph goes on to report: “The most infamous cases involving these gangs occurred in northern England towns like Oldham, Telford and Rotherham — the severity of which has been whitewashed for fear of accusations of Islamophobia.”

Big picture: The refusal by U.K. liberals to address this issue and protect its citizens underscores the deep bureaucratic rot within a party prioritizing its own self-preservation over justice.
