Good morning, Wake Up Right fam! After weeks of horse-trading, the Senate has passed President Trump’s “big, beautiful bill.”
Next stop? The House, which must sign off on the upper chamber’s version of the bill.
Speaker Mike Johnson wants to get this signed, sealed, and delivered to the president by the 4th of July. Expect some early morning fireworks on Capitol Hill as he works to whip a few holdout Republicans to get behind the bill.

UPenn bends to Trump: Will strip trans swimmer of records and apologize to women

The University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) has agreed to ban biological males from competing in women's sports and will give stolen awards to the rightful winners following an investigation by the U.S. Department of Education (DOE).
Back up: During the 2021-2022 swim season, transgender biological male Lia Thomas broke UPenn records in several categories and went on to win the NCAA Women’s 500-yard freestyle championship.
The details: The DOE announced yesterday that UPenn had agreed to enter into a Resolution Agreement, which would see the university:
🥇 Reinstate women's swimming records, titles, and awards previously lost to Thomas
✉️ Issue personalized apology letters to affected female athletes
🧬 Adopt biology-based definitions of sex in athletics.
9️⃣ Align its policies with the Trump administration’s interpretation of Title IX
How'd we get here? In February, President Trump signed an executive order aimed at protecting women's sports from transgender athletes and rolling back the Biden regime’s attempt to redefine Title IX [which protects sex-based discrimination] to include transgenders.
Trump later froze $175 million in federal funding to UPenn as the administration investigated the university over its bastardization of Title IX.
The last word goes to Riley Gaines, a former NCAA swimmer who competed against Thomas, who reacted to the news, saying:
“This Administration does not just pay lip service to women’s equality: it vigorously insists on that equality being upheld.”

Zohran’s city-run supermarket plan is already broken

The socialist that Democrats just nominated to run for mayor in New York City, Zohran Mamdani, has promised to create government-run grocery stores using subsidies given to “corporate grocery stores.” But there’s a catch: Those subsidies don’t exist.
Zohran’s Marxist dream: He wants to start with five stores – one in each borough – to create a "public option" focusing on “keeping prices low, not making a profit.” Sounds lovely. But…
How will he fund them? Mamdani claims NYC is set to spend $140 million subsidizing “corporate grocery stores” through the city’s FRESH program and says he'll reallocate $60 million of it to build socialist grocery stores.
What is FRESH? It’s a public-private initiative aimed at bringing healthy, affordable food to underserved neighborhoods. “Underserved” is a fancy way of saying corporations don’t want to open stores in the neighborhood, because it’s not profitable.
Here’s the problem: FRESH isn't a piggy bank stuffed with cash. The program is mostly a bundle of tax breaks that incentivize corporations to move into those areas. All-in, the city pays roughly $3 million into the program per year – nowhere near Mamdani’s claims.
MamDummy misread the FRESH website: The mayoral hopeful got the $140 million figure because the FRESH website estimates that private grocery stores have invested $140 million of their own money thanks to the tax incentives.
Real talk from G: It’s never a good sign when a candidate is crowdsourcing his ideas from the Soviet Union and Cuba. But worse… If this guy’s signature proposal is based on his inability to read [or purposeful misinterpretation], what does that tell you about the rest of his platform?

A few months ago, I was at a butcher in my neighborhood and saw a diagram of a cow, with all the cuts of meat labeled. And that gave me an idea for a t-shirt:
DOGE Butcher Shop — but instead of the cow, we use a pig. And the cuts of meat in the diagram represent all the waste, fraud, and abuse being butchered by the Trump admin.
Over the last few weeks, I worked with a really talented graphic designer who brought it to life. And on Friday I got a sample in the mail and I’m happy to say, it came out better than I’d hoped.
Also, my wife told me I had to mention that the t-shirt it’s printed on is Comfort Colors. Apparently, they’re well-known for high-quality materials. I just chose them because they are printed in the U.S. and made with 100 U.S. cotton.
