Wake Up Right - July 22, 2025

`

Good morning, Wake Up Right fam! Don’t blink today, because it could be the shortest day of our lives… according to science.
NASA scientists say Earth's rotation has picked up speed and is expected to shave off just over 1.36 milliseconds from our day. For perspective, a millisecond is 1/1,000 of a second. So it’s essentially undetectable.
But if you feel like today is flying by, now you know why.

🙁 25% of men under 35 report feeling lonely
📱 74% support classroom cellphone bans
🗓️ Serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer caught on this day in 1991

FBI failed to fully investigate Hillary e-mails

Sen. Chuck Grassley released declassified documents showing what he calls the FBI’s “negligent” and “possibly intentional” mishandling of its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server.
Back up: Clinton was investigated for mishandling classified emails on a private server while serving as President Obama’s Secretary of State, but the FBI, under James Comey, declined to bring charges, despite “evidence of potential violations.”
The details: The newly declassified “Clinton Annex” documents [part of a 2018 Inspector General report] reveals the FBI under failed to fully examine key evidence – including thumb drives containing classified info tied to Clinton, the Obama White House, and possibly Congress.
The files also reference intelligence alleging Obama-era efforts to “scuttle” the probe and protect Clinton’s 2016 candidacy.
Other documents include reported communications between then-DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and George Soros–linked operatives, which the FBI allegedly failed to pursue.
Zoom out: This comes days after we learned that the Obama administration manufactured evidence to launch the Trump-Russia collusion hoax in the weeks before Trump took office.
The last word goes to Chairman Grassley, who said:
"The Comey FBI’s negligent approach and perhaps intentional lack of effort in the Clinton investigation is a stark contrast to its full-throated investigation of the Trump-Russia collusion hoax, which was based on the uncorroborated and now discredited Steele dossier. Comey’s decision-making process smacks of political infection."

Trump declassifies MLK files
![Caption reads, "[Civil Rights March on Washington, D.C. [Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mathew Ahmann in a crowd.], 8/28/1963" Original black and white negative by Rowland Scherman. The Trump administration declassified over 230,000 pages of documents related to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. - checking another item off the president’s list of campaign promises.
The details: The files span decades of federal investigations and include newly digitized documents made public for the first time.
While it’s unclear whether the documents will reveal new narrative-changing details, they do include notes from the original investigation, interview transcripts, and intel on interactions with foreign agencies.
The release may also include controversial information about King’s private life, which some family members have expressed concern over.
Back up: King was assassinated in 1968 while standing on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel with friends. A man named James Earl Ray was blamed for the murder, but there are conspiracies that he was not the lone actor – or not the shooter at all.
Family Matters: MLK’s niece, Alveda King, reacted to the declassification, saying it was "a historic step towards the truth that the American people deserve.”
Transparency push: The release follows similar declassifications under President Trump related to the JFK and RFK assassinations. However, the public is still awaiting full transparency on Jeffrey Epstein.
Real talk from G: Isn’t it a shame that the first Black U.S. president, Barack Obama, didn’t have the guts to challenge the intel agencies who wanted to keep the MLK files classified?
The last word goes to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who said: “Under President Trump’s leadership, we are ensuring that no stone is left unturned in our mission to deliver complete transparency on this pivotal and tragic event in our nation’s history. I extend my deepest appreciation to the King family for their support

A few months ago, I was at a butcher in my neighborhood and saw a diagram of a cow, with all the cuts of meat labeled. And that gave me an idea for a t-shirt:
DOGE Butcher Shop — but instead of the cow, we use a pig. And the cuts of meat in the diagram represent all the waste, fraud, and abuse being butchered by the Trump admin.
Over the last few weeks, I worked with a really talented graphic designer who brought it to life. And on Friday I got a sample in the mail and I’m happy to say, it came out better than I’d hoped.
Also, my wife told me I had to mention that the t-shirt it’s printed on is Comfort Colors. Apparently, they’re well-known for high-quality materials. I just chose them because they are printed in the U.S. and made with 100 U.S. cotton.
