RFK Jr. fires entire vaccine panel
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has dismissed all 17 members of the CDC’s vaccine advisory panel, citing the members’ conflicts of interest and a loss of public confidence.
The details: Kennedy announced Monday that the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) is being fully reconstituted.
In an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal, Kennedy wrote: “The committee has been plagued with persistent conflicts of interest and has become little more than a rubber stamp for any vaccine. It has never recommended against a vaccine—even those later withdrawn for safety reasons.”
What is ACIP? The panel advises the CDC on vaccine schedules for adults and children.
Zoom out: The majority of the appointees on the panel were appointed by Joe Biden and would have served through 2028.
What happens next? New appointees will be chosen before the next ACIP meeting in late June.
Big picture: This move is a big step for the Make America Health Again movement, led by Kennedy and President Trump, which has already dropped the COVID-19 vaccine guidance for healthy children and pregnant women, launched efforts to tackle chronic illness in children and other preventable diseases — just to name a few.

President Donald Trump and California Gov. Gavin Newsom are clashing over whether a call between them even happened as riots swept through Los Angeles – but one of them has receipts.
The claim: During a press conference in the Oval Office on Tuesday, Trump told reporters he spoke to Newsom “a day ago” to tell him “to do a better job” containing the riots in Los Angeles.
Newsom responds: The California governor took to X to refute the President's claims, writing: "There was no call. Not even a voicemail."
Receipts: Trump shot back at Newsom, telling Fox News he spoke with the California governor for 16 minutes early Saturday morning — even sharing a screenshot of the June 7 call.
Yeah, but… Let’s be unbiased here. Technically, Trump claimed the call took place on June 9. So his claim was off by two day. But to his credit, the call did happen.
Big picture: What's really important here is that anti-ICE riots have rocked Los Angeles since Friday, and Trump is right to say Newsom needs to "get his a** in gear."
