Supreme Court protects kids from transgender mutilation

The Supreme Court upheld Tennessee’s law banning puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and gender surgeries for minors — a landmark decision that affirms states’ rights to protect children from transgender mutilation.

The details: The court ruled 6-3 along ideological lines in favor of Tennessee, finding that the law was not discriminatory in violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, as the plaintiffs alleged.

• The ruling found that there was no discriminatory element to the law, since it “does not prohibit certain medical treatments for minors of one sex while allowing those same treatments for minors of the opposite sex."

• Justices Barrett and Thomas agreed that transgender status isn’t a protected class like race or sex.

• In Justice Clarence Thomas' concurring opinion detailing the risks and long-term effects of transgender procedures on children, he slammed the idea that "courts should defer to so-called expert consensus."

Back up: Don’t forget that in 2024, Joe Biden's Department of Justice filed briefs on behalf of the plaintiffs in this case, arguing that Tennessee's law did violate federal law.

What the liberals say: Justice Sotomayor claimed that the ruling enables states to hide sex-based discrimination “in plain sight.”

Zoom out: This case clears the way for any state to ban transgender procedures for children. Currently, 27 out of 50 have some form of prohibition on so-called “gender-affirming care” for minors.

The last word goes to Chloe Cole, a woman who was transitioned to male as a child [and has since de-transitioned], wrote on X:

• “We, detransitioners have been forever cemented into American history. 4 years ago, nobody even knew we existed, now, The Supreme Court knows who we are. The fight against gender ideology has been one of the most successful awareness campaigns in history.”

A few months ago, I was at a butcher in my neighborhood and saw a diagram of a cow, with all the cuts of meat labeled. And that gave me an idea for a t-shirt:

DOGE Butcher Shop — but instead of the cow, we use a pig. And the cuts of meat in the diagram represent all the waste, fraud, and abuse being butchered by the Trump admin.

Over the last few weeks, I worked with a really talented graphic designer who brought it to life. And on Friday I got a sample in the mail and I’m happy to say, it came out better than I’d hoped.
