Welcome back, folks, and a belated Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and granddads in the Wake Up Right fam!
While you were celebrating, the rabid communists over at the New York Times couldn’t help but try to chip away at the holiday by running a cartoon essay about a trans-identifying woman learning to be a “dad.”

SCOTUS saves the big ones for last

The Supreme Court is racing to finish its term by the end of June, and it's holding the rulings that could define President Donald Trump's second term for the very last days.
The details: The justices have cleared most of their docket, but roughly 20 blockbusters are still unwritten, including:
🤰 Birthright citizenship: Whether Trump's order ending automatic citizenship for children of illegal immigrants can stand.
🏳⚧️ Trans athletes: Whether Idaho and West Virginia can enforce laws barring biological males who identify as transgender from girls’ and women’s school sports.
📬 Mail-in ballots: Whether states can count ballots that arrive after Election Day.
💰 Campaign finance: A challenge to limits on political spending.
🏢 The Fed fight: Whether Trump can fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook.
Back up: This term hasn't been quiet. The Court has already handed Trump some wins and dealt some blows.
👎 It struck down Trump's signature tariffs, finding he lacked the power to impose them under the emergency law he'd used – though he quickly reimposed a 10% version under a different statute.
🗺 It gutted the 1965 Voting Rights Act, prompting Republican-led states to redraw their maps.
🔫 It struck down a federal ban on gun ownership by marijuana users — a narrow Second Amendment win.
What's next: The Court releases opinions starting at 10 a.m. ET, with more days expected later in the week before the term closes.

First trans lawmaker convicted of child sex abuse

Stacie Marie Laughton – the first openly transgender person ever elected to a U.S. state legislature – will spend 33 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to child sex abuse charges tied to a Massachusetts daycare.
The details: A federal judge in Boston sentenced Laughton to 400 months after the former Democratic New Hampshire state representative pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual exploitation of children. Prosecutors say Laughton pushed his then-partner to take nude photos of children during diaper changes and bathroom breaks.
The partner: Lindsay Groves, 40, was sentenced earlier this month to 22 years.
The two exchanged more than 10,000 texts in a single month in 2023, trading images of victims as young as 3.
Prosecutors say the whole thing only surfaced because Laughton turned Groves in to get back at her after their breakup. Mentally ill and dumb – a deadly combo.
Back up: Laughton was elected in 2012 as a transgender “trailblazer,” but was eventually forced out of his position over a prior fraud conviction, then re-elected in 2020.
Zoom out: This comes as New Hampshire debates barring biological men from women's spaces; female lawmakers recalled Laughton using their restroom.
Gender bender: Despite identifying as a female, Laughton is being housed with the jail's male population.
The last word goes to the prosecutor’s office, which said:
“The conduct at issue here is abhorrent. These were children who were not yet fully potty trained, not old enough to even go to the bathroom themselves, and not fully verbal. This was planned, it was strategized, and it was carried out for the sexual gratification of one or both defendants in this case.”
