Good morning, Wake Up Right fam! A new survey of more than 10,000 people across 26 countries asked one of the world’s most important questions: Are you a Lionel Messi guy or a Cristiano Ronaldo fan? And they broke down the answers by political view.

The results: Conservatives prefer Ronaldo. Liberals prefer Messi.

So if you’re a Messi fan… Congratulations, your pronouns are now they/them.

Trashy DEI exec canned for stealing garbage can

A JPMorgan Chase DEI executive is out of a job after going viral for dumping a public trash can's contents onto a Manhattan sidewalk during the Knicks' championship parade — just so she could walk off with the orange-and-blue bin as a souvenir.

The details: The New York Post identified the woman as Angie Baez, 40, after footage of the June 18 stunt went viral on X. JPMorgan confirmed her exit, telling the Post she's "no longer with the company."

  • Video showed Baez calmly emptying the overflowing can onto the curb, shaking it out, and walking off as a bystander yelled, "What are you doing?"

  • A separate clip appeared to show her riding the subway with the can parked beside her.

Why it caught fire: The story took off once online sleuths found her resume. Baez was promoted about a year ago to a community engagement role at Chase, but previously ran Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at restaurant-review site The Infatuation, which Chase acquired in 2021.

  • Her old Infatuation bio [which has been deleted] touted her work toward creating a "more equitable" food-media industry.

Real talk from G: So, the lady who wants to create a “more equitable” world also dumps trash on the street so she can steal property. That tracks.

The last word goes to the NYC Department of Sanitation, which said:

  • “Dumping trash onto the street and stealing public property for your own personal use are both illegal, antisocial behaviors, and not what New Yorkers do. On top of all that, doing both on camera is incredibly stupid.”

Supreme Court reaffirms Trump’s immigration authority

The Supreme Court handed President Donald Trump back-to-back immigration victories Thursday, ruling in two separate cases that clear the way to strip deportation protections from hundreds of thousands of migrants and keep turning asylum seekers away at the southern border.

The details: Both decisions landed the same day, both by 6-3 margins, and both were written by Justice Samuel Alito. The Court sided with the administration on the central question in each: how much power the executive has to control who stays and who gets in.

  • In Mullin v. Doe, the justices lifted lower-court orders blocking the Department of Homeland Security from ending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti and Syria, ruling that the law bars courts from second-guessing those decisions.

  • In Mullin v. Al Otro Lado, the Court upheld "metering" – the practice of turning illegal aliens back before they set foot on U.S. soil – finding they haven't legally "arrived in the United States."

Zoom out: TPS shields recipients from deportation and lets them work legally. Haiti was given the designation after its 2010 earthquake, and Syria in 2012. Both countries’ protections kept getting extended until Secretary Kristi Noem moved to end them in 2025.

At its core: These court decisions reinforced the constitutional authority of the executive branch to control immigration.

The last word goes to White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson, who said: "This is a tremendous win for the Trump Administration, the rule of law, and common sense,” and vowed that the president "remains committed to lawfully restoring integrity to our immigration system."

Communists take over the Democrat party in New York

New York Democrats nominated a slate of self-described socialists this week, toppling two sitting congressmen and handing Mayor Zohran Mamdani's movement its biggest night yet – and Republicans say it's a preview of where the national party is headed.

The details: On Tuesday, four Mamdani-endorsed candidates won Democratic primaries across New York City [3 for Congress, 1 for the state Senate] in deep-blue seats where the primary effectively decides the race.

  • 🤡 Brad Lander ousted Rep. Dan Goldman, the lead counsel in President Donald Trump's first impeachment, in NY-10 by roughly 66% to 34%.

  • 🤡 Darializa Avila Chevalier unseated five-term Rep. Adriano Espaillat, chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, in NY-13.

  • 🤡 Claire Valdez won the open NY-7 seat to replace retiring Rep. Nydia Velázquez.

  • 🤡 Activist Aber Kawas won a Queens state Senate primary, putting her on track to be the first Palestinian American and Muslim woman in a New York state office.

Radicals: Calling them socialists does not do them justice:

  • Avila Chevalier [a Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) member] co-founded an organization that says it’s "fighting for the total eradication of Western civilization" and, later, "Death to America." In deleted posts, she called the U.S. "a f---ing disgrace," called Joe Biden a "rapist" and "war criminal," and wrote, "I forgot to get napkins so I just wiped my hand on the American flag behind me." She backs abolishing ICE, borders, prisons, and the police, and says all deportations are wrong — even for violent criminals.

  • Kawas [also a DSA member] blamed the 9/11 attacks on "capitalism… racism… white supremacy." She built her campaign on her father's alleged ICE deportation, but the NY Post reports he was removed for felony fraud convictions under the Bush administration.

  • Lander [a former DSA member] ran on abolishing ICE, forgiving all student loans, and expanding the Supreme Court.

  • Claire Valdez [also a DSA member] supports granting citizenship and voting rights to illegal immigrants, eliminating private health insurance, and using taxpayer funds for all transgender treatments.

The numbers: A recent poll found that 66% of Democrats say they favor socialism. Just 42% said they favor capitalism.

The last word goes to President Trump, who told the press:

  • "They're going radical left. I watched that woman last night. That's not a socialist. I know socialists. That woman is a communist."

🇺🇸 Today’s story comes from Ed – a longtime member of the Wake Up Right fam.

I am proud to be an American because if you take the time to learn about and develop an appreciation for the history and culture of the USA, you realize that it is truly a land of unparalleled freedom and opportunity.  The Founding Fathers, and all the courageous men and women who came after them to serve and sacrifice on behalf of this "great experiment" didn't do any of it for fame, or glory, or wealth, but because they knew that the USA, and what it stands for, is second to none and is worth fighting for, and even dying for.  As George Washington wrote in 1779, "Our cause is noble; it is the cause of mankind!"

If you look at the recent social media posts by World Cup fans who are visiting the USA for the first time, they are absolutely amazed at what they are seeing and experiencing. They are like children on Christmas Eve! Something to be proud of as an American.

In "The Road to Serfdom," Friedrich Hayek wrote, "If we are to build a better world, we must remember that the guiding principle is this - a policy of freedom for the individual is the only truly progressive policy."  The USA has embraced this concept, developed and grown it, and will continue to work on improving it.  Rightfully, we should all be extremely proud of that!

God bless the entire Wake Up Right family and God bless the proud USA!!
