Wake Up Right - June 30, 2025

`

Good morning, Wake Up Right fam! Today is the final day of Pride Month, but you wouldn’t have known it if you were waiting for acknowledgement from the White House.

  • Instead, the Trump administration declared June as Title IX Month, “commemorating women and celebrating their struggle for, and achievement of, equal educational opportunity.”

  • This declaration comes after the Biden regime tried to rewrite the law to include transgenders – opening girls' locker room doors [literally] to biological boys.

Personally, I am filled with pride to see the Trump administration put the final nail in that coffin.

  • ⛽️ Gas is $3.18/gallon, down 9% from last year

  • 💰️ Trump has $1.4 billion political war chest for 2026

  • ⏳️ Einstein published theory of relativity on this day in 1905

  • 💉 63% who use weight-loss injections still use after 1 year

Big, beautiful bill passes Senate hurdle

Senate Republicans cleared a key hurdle this weekend, advancing President Donald Trump’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill” reconciliation bill by a narrow vote.

The details: The bill, over 900 pages long, contains Trump’s top tax and spending priorities — including making his 2017 tax cuts permanent, no tax on tips & overtime, border funding, a $4,000 “bonus deduction” for social security recipients, eliminating federal benefits to illegals, and much more.

Down to the wire: The bill almost didn't make it across the finish line. The GOP’s narrow 53-47 majority allowed for just a handful of "no” votes on their side. In the end, just two Republicans — Rand Paul and Thom Tillis — voted with the Democrats against the bill, and it passed 51-49.

Trump praised the passing on Truth Social, writing: “VERY PROUD OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY TONIGHT. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!”

Tillis out: Senator Thom Tillis drew Trump’s ire over the weekend for his opposition to his signature tax and spending bill.

  • Trump wrote on Truth: “Numerous people have come forward wanting to run in the Primary against ‘Senator Thom’ Tillis. I will be meeting with them over the coming weeks, looking for someone who will properly represent the Great People of North Carolina”

  • On Sunday, Tillis announced he would not seek re-election.

Zoom out: The main opposition from GOP holdouts comes from their concerns that the bill will add to the national debt.

What happens next? The bill’s advancement sets up a 20-hour debate and amendment marathon (“vote-a-rama”) in the coming days. Trump aims to sign the bill into law by July 4th.

The

Supreme Court has a day

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) handed down several significant rulings on Friday that delivered big wins for conservatives on issues like parental rights, reigning in rogue anti-Trump judges, and pornography.

Set the scene: On Friday, the high court handed down its final rulings of its 2024-2025 session before going on summer recess. It will reconvene in October.

🧑‍⚖️ Reining in judges: In Trump v. CASA, the Supreme Court ruled 6–3 to overturn a lower court’s nationwide injunction blocking Trump’s executive order on birthright citizenship – finding that federal judges may not issue nationwide injunctions against federal policies.

  • What is a nationwide injunction? It’s a court order issued by a single federal judge that blocks a federal policy from being enforced anywhere in the country – not just in the district where the case was filed.

  • Hold up: This ruling wasn’t on the merits of Trump’s birthright citizenship order – that will still play out in the courts as the administration argues the law does not extend to the children of illegal aliens.

  • For perspective: Judges have issued over 100 nationwide injunctions against Trump. Biden has 22, Obama has 12, and Bush had 6.

🏳️‍🌈 Parental rights: In Mahmoud v. Taylor, the Court ruled 6–3 with a group of Christian and Muslim Maryland parents, affirming their right to opt their children out of LGBTQ curriculum. Justice Alito held that the schools violate their religious freedom when exposing them to materials without notice or opt-out options.

🔞 Age verification for porn: In Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton, the Court ruled 6-3 to uphold a Texas law that requires porn sites to verify users are 18 or older.

Zoom out: All three of these cases were decided along ideological lines, with the liberal justices always dissenting.

Back up: These cases highlight how important Trump’s first term was to rebalancing the Supreme Court – with his three nominees. If he had lost in 2016, Hillary Clinton would have packed the court with liberals.

What is Trump saying? He called the decisions “a monumental victory for the Constitution, the separation of powers, and the rule of law.”

Real talk from G: These were all important decisions, but the ruling on nationwide injunctions will have a major impact on Trump’s presidency moving forward. In his first five months in office, the left has used these radical judges to slow down his presidency, burdening him with legal mumbo-jumbo. Those days are officially.

A few months ago, I was at a butcher in my neighborhood and saw a diagram of a cow, with all the cuts of meat labeled. And that gave me an idea for a t-shirt:

DOGE Butcher Shop — but instead of the cow, we use a pig. And the cuts of meat in the diagram represent all the waste, fraud, and abuse being butchered by the Trump admin.

Over the last few weeks, I worked with a really talented graphic designer who brought it to life. And on Friday I got a sample in the mail and I’m happy to say, it came out better than I’d hoped.

Also, my wife told me I had to mention that the t-shirt it’s printed on is Comfort Colors. Apparently, they’re well-known for high-quality materials. I just chose them because they are printed in the U.S. and made with 100 U.S. cotton.
