Ukraine agrees to ceasefire

Ukraine has agreed to a 30-day ceasefire — the first major step toward ending the war with Russia. There’s just one catch… Vladimir Putin still needs to agree to it.

The details: The ceasefire agreement comes after just one day of negotiations with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz in Saudi Arabia.

• Rubio told the press: “[T]he President’s objective here is, number one, above everything else, he wants the war to end. And I think today, Ukraine has taken a concrete step in that regard. We hope the Russians will reciprocate.”

Provisions in the agreement: In exchange for the 30-day ceasefire, the United States will resume intelligence sharing and weapons support to Ukraine. However, the agreement does not include security guarantees, a key demand previously made by Kyiv.

Back up: This agreement comes less than 24 hours after reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent an apology letter to Trump for his Oval Office antics.

The hurdle: As stated above, Russia still needs to agree to this deal. So far, they haven’t commented, but we’ll likely learn more after Putin meets with White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff later this week.

Real talk from G: It shouldn’t be overlooked that Trump got Ukraine to agree to this ceasefire without giving up anything. Remember, the intel and weapons sharing we agreed to restart was only paused last week. Trump essentially made Zelenskyy take one step back, then one step forward, and called it a deal.

That is the ‘Art of the Deal.’

Trump’s incredible, affordable egg

Egg prices are falling fast — and the Trump administration is taking a much-deserved victory lap after months of legacy media reports on rising prices.

The details: Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced in a video posted to X that the average cost of a dozen eggs nationwide has dropped by $1.85 since the White House launched its 5-point plan to stabilize prices.

• Rollins noted the price could rise slightly around Easter as demand grows but emphasized the downward trend.

Back up: Remember, this was an inherited problem — not one Trump caused. When Biden took office in January 2021, the average cost of a dozen eggs was $1.46. By the time he left in January, the price had surged to over $4.50 — a more than 200% increase.

• The price increase was due to the federal government’s policy of paying farmers to kill off entire flocks if a single exposure was detected. This led to 150 million egg-laying birds being killed.

The five-point plan laid out by the White House in February focused on ways to overhaul the agriculture industry's response to outbreaks of diseases like the Avian Flu — focusing on:

• boosting biosecurity

• providing financial relief to farmers

• exploring vaccines and therapeutics

• cutting unnecessary regulations

• importing eggs temporarily

Wait, did you say vaccines? Yes, but last week Rollins said, “I pulled [vaccines] off the table” and added that they will not be used “now or frankly ever.”

Real talk from G: On February 21, I predicted that Democrats were making a strategic mistake by propagandizing egg prices, writing: “Egg prices are a volatile item to hitch their wagons to.
