Good morning, Wake Up Right fam! It’s almost that time of year when new emojis get dropped on our smartphones – which this newsletter is always excited about since we’re the most emoji-friendly e-mail on the block.

This year’s drop features eight new characters, but I’m focused on that bulgy-eyed fella (second from the left, on the top). You know we’re gonna get a lot of use out of it.

  • Democrats refuse to applaud an Army pilot who successfully completed his mission in Venezuela despite being shot multiple times? [bulgy-eye fella]

  • Congress votes to keep their sexual harassment slush fund secret? [bulgy-eye fella]

Coming this spring.

Farmer Bill’s Meat Snacks

Do you like jerky? Then you will love biltong.

Jerky is tough and dry. But biltong has marbling like a ribeye steak and is super tender.

How? It's air-dried, unlike jerky, which is cooked. And the air-drying process gives it 30% more protein per ounce than jerky.

Why I recommend Farmer Bill’s: It’s a rancher-owned company, sourcing beef and bison from the grasslands of South Dakota. Their biltong is:

  • 🐮 Grass-fed, grass-finished

  • 💪 High-protein snack

  • 🇺🇸 100% American beef

  • 🚫 No nitrates

  • 🚫 No sugar

  • 🚫 No processed ingredients

Translation: clean, simple, high-protein meat snacks you’ll actually crave.

Inflation continues to cool

Inflation remained relatively stable in February, with consumer prices rising just 2.4% year-over-year, suggesting price pressures across the U.S. economy have largely cooled for now.

The details: The report came in around expectations, with the year-over-year number remaining unchanged from January. When you zoom in and look at the month-over-month figures, February rose by 0.3%, up from 0.2% in January.

Zoom out: Remember, the Federal Reserve sets a target rate for healthy annual inflation at 2%. So we’re still slightly above that figure.

The numbers: Let’s dig into the year-over-year highlights:

  • Gasoline: -5.6%

  • 🔋 Electricity: +4.8%

  • 💨 Utility gas: + 10.9%

  • 🚗 New cars: +0.5%

  • 🛻 Used cars: -3.2%

  • 🏠 Shelter: +3%

  • 🥩 Beef: +14.4%

  • 🍗 Chicken: +0.5%

  • 🥚 Eggs: -42.1%

  • ❤‍🩹 Health insurance: -3.6%

  • Airfare: +7.1%

Worth noting: The month-over-month data (the numbers above are year-over-year) shows rents post their smallest increase since January 2021.

Complicating factor: February’s inflation data does not yet reflect the impact of escalating tensions in the Middle East. Gas prices as of this morning sit at a national average of $3.59.

What the Fed is watching: Federal Reserve officials are monitoring energy prices closely as they weigh potential interest rate cuts.

Back up: Inflation is ice-cold compared to the Biden years, when it peaked at 9.1% in June 2022. But there’s still work to be done.

Big picture: The midterm elections eight months away and affordability is at the top of voters minds.

Why Burned-Out Professionals Are Turning to CBD

Long hours, heavy workloads and frustrating coworkers: job burnout is on the rise. Savvy professionals are turning to CBD and its sister compound, CBG, to manage work stress and burnout without losing focus.

Like CBD, CBG is a non-intoxicating compound found naturally in the hemp plant that is known for helping to manage mild/temporary anxiety. And these benefits are backed by science: participants in a 2022 CBDistillery study who took CBD + CBG reported:

  • Reduced mild or temporary anxiety and tension

  • Increased focus and mental clarity

  • That CBD + CBG was more effective than other treatments they tried in the past

When it comes to quality CBD products, CBDistillery is leading the way. Non-GMO, US-grown hemp, 100% clean ingredients, and a 60-day satisfaction guarantee give you one less thing to stress about.

FBI warns Iranian drones target U.S. west coast

The FBI warned law enforcement agencies in California that Iran may have explored plans to launch a drone attack against the U.S. West Coast.

The details: A federal alert bulletin circulated to local police said the FBI recently obtained intelligence suggesting Iran had “aspired” to conduct a surprise drone attack from a vessel operating offshore.

  • The alert indicated the potential attack scenario was tied to U.S. military strikes against Iran.

  • Officials emphasized that the intelligence is limited and no specific timeline, targets, or perpetrators have been identified.

Zoom out: Iran has stockpiled long-range drones such as the Shahed series, which have been used in conflicts across the Middle East and Ukraine.

What they’re saying: California Gov. Gavin Newsom said state officials were monitoring the situation but stressed that authorities were not aware of any imminent threats.

Back up: This comes after reports that Iran had activated "sleeper cells" – potentially in the United States – to carry out attacks against the U.S. and its allies.

  • Ken Cucinelli wrote for Fox News: “This vulnerability stems directly from four years of open-border policies under President Joe Biden, who flung doors wide open to unchecked immigration, swelling Iran’s pool of sympathizers in the United States and possibly embedding assets at the regime’s behest.”
