The House passed legislation Wednesday to deport noncitizens who commit welfare fraud – with 186 Democrats voting against the measure, drawing questions about where their priorites lie.

The details: The Deporting Fraudsters Act passed 231–186, with all but 20 Democrats opposing the measure.

Quote: Rep. Tom McClintock framed the bill bluntly: “If you commit fraud, you’re out of here on the next plane.”

Why now? The vote comes amid rising scrutiny of large-scale fraud cases like those seen in Minnesota, where estimates suggest billions could have been stolen from taxpayers.

What are Dems saying? Rep. Jamie Raskin called the bill "redundant" because there other laws on the books that allow for deportation due to fraud, although they don't allow it as expeditiously as this bill would.

Zoom out: This week, President Donald Trump appointed Vice President JD Vance to lead a federal task force to root out fraud across the country – with eyes on states like California, Minnesota, and New York.

Big picture: This bill is unlikely to pass in the Senate where it needs 60 votes (there are just 53 Republicans). But it highlights how far Democrats will go to protect their real constituents: illegal aliens and criminals.

A former Oregon high school principal who celebrated Charlie Kirk’s assassination, is now headed to prison after being convicted of possessing and sharing child porn.

The details: Jeremy P. Williams, former principal of Rainier Junior/Senior High School, was sentenced to 61 months in prison for possessing and distributing explicit images involving minors.

What investigators found: Authorities said there was no evidence linking any students from Williams’ school to the material . However, the content was part of known illegal image-sharing networks, which triggered automated alerts on social media platforms, which flagged his account.

Back up: Prior to his arrest, Williams was already on paid administrative leave due to undisclosed comments he made celebrating Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

What’s next? In addition to prison time, Williams will be required to register as a sex offender for 15 years, pay $3,000 in fines, and serve three years of supervised release after prison.
