Wake Up Right - March 24, 2025

Welcome back, folks! We’re kicking off the week with a very important call to action for all of the Wake Up Right fam in Wisconsin. You have an extremely important state Supreme Court election on April 1 (next Tuesday). And it might determine who controls the House in 2026.

I’ll explain the details below, but please mark your calendars. Vote for Brad Schimel on April 1.

  • 🥊 Legendary boxer George Foreman died at 76

  • 🎸 On this day in 1958, Elvis joined the U.S. Army

  • 🚻 Italy banned gender-neutral symbols in schools

  • 📉 Just 39% of Americans approve of Zelenskyy

Trump unveils the F-47

President Donald Trump announced that Boeing will produce the F-47 — America’s next-generation, sixth-gen fighter jet — the biggest leap in airpower in decades.

The details: Trump unveiled the F-47 in the Oval Office with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth late last week, calling it “the most advanced, most lethal aircraft ever built.”

  • Trump revealed that an experimental version of the jet has "secretly been flying" for the past five years.

Back up: The F-47 will replace the fifth-generation F-22 Raptor, built by Lockheed Martin.

6th-gen specs: The F-47 will be stealthy, supersonic (over Mach 2), built to evade radar and enemy detection, and can carry missiles or bombs in internal bays — in other words, it’s built to evade enemy detection while carrying a massive payload.

China factor: China has spent years beefing up its defenses in the Pacific. The F-47 is designed to penetrate those defenses.

Biden put it on hold: The F-47 is being built under the Next Generation Air Defense (NGAD), an initiative that was paused under the Biden regime. According to Hegseth, Biden was even "prepared to potentially scrap it."

The name: Trump says "the generals" picked the name F-47 — but did remark it was "a beautiful number." Trump is the 47th president.

The last word goes to President Trump, who told the press: "We’ll ensure the USA continues to dominate the skies."

Big picture: The F-47 isn’t just a fighter jet — it’s a geopolitical message to China: FAFO.

About a month ago, I was at a butcher in my neighborhood and saw a diagram of a cow, with all the cuts of meat labeled. And that gave me an idea for a t-shirt:

DOGE Butcher Shop — but instead of the cow, we use a pig. And the cuts of meat in the diagram represent all the waste, fraud, and abuse being butchered by the Trump admin.

Over the last few weeks, I worked with a really talented graphic designer who brought it to life. And on Friday I got a sample in the mail and I’m happy to say, it came out better than I’d hoped.

Also, my wife told me I had to mention that the t-shirt it’s printed on is Custom Colors. Apparently, they’re well-known for high-quality materials. I just chose them because they are printed in the U.S. and made with 100 U.S. cotton.

All eyes on Wisconsin

A local Wisconsin Supreme Court election has garnered national attention — as the result will determine the political balance of the court and could affect Democrats’ hopes of retaking the House in 2026.

The details: On April 1, Wisconsin residents will head to the polls to choose the balance of the state Supreme Court, which is currently divided between 3 conservatives and 3 liberals.

The choices are:

  • Conservative: Brad Schimel, the former Wisconsin Attorney General

  • Liberal: Susan Crawford, a former prosecutor and current Circuit Court judge

Why it matters: Two words: congressional redistricting. In 2022, the liberal court approved Democrat governor Tony Ever’s new congressional map, which redrew congressional districts in a way that helped Democrats win an extra House seat in 2024. If liberals retain control of the court, it’s possible Democrats flip more seats in 2026.

  • If conservatives control the court, it will likely throw out the 2022 map and endorse one drawn by the Wisconsin legislature — which is controlled by Republicans. This could lead to Republican wins in 2026.

The money: The race has shattered spending records, with contributions exceeding $76 million. Both sides have big backing:

  • Elon Musk: His PACs have invested over $12 million to support Schimel and offered $100 to voters who sign a petition against "activist judges."

  • George Soros: The fat-left Democrat donor has given $1 million to back Susan Crawford.

  • Illinois Gov.JB Pritzker: The wealthy Democrat governor donated at least $500,000 to Crawford.

  • Reid Hoffman: The LinkedIn founder donated at least $250,000 to Crawford.

…Musk amplified claims that the three Democrats above donated millions more than these figures, but I have not been able to verify those numbers.

Zoom out: Trump won Wisconsin in 2024 by an extremely slim <1% margin.

The last word goes to NFL legend Brett Favre, who recorded an ad for Schimel, telling voters:

  • “This is as important as the November election. And that was for the soul of America. This is for the soul of Wisconsin." Your vote for Brad Schimel will keep Wisconsin and America winning.”

Wisconsin, please make plans to vote on April 1. The fate of your state — and country — depends on it.
