Fake news goes to D.C.

NPR and PBS executives faced tough questioning on Capitol Hill yesterday over the political bias displayed by their taxpayer-funded news outlets.
Timeout: PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) and NPR (National Public Radio) are public media outlets, which means they're nonprofit and publicly funded.
Your money at work: In 2024, taxpayers sent $535 million to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a government-funded company that doled out millions to NPR and PBS.
The hearing: NPR CEO Katherine Maher and PBS CEO Paula Kerger testified before the DOGE House subcommittee, led by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. Here are some of the highlights:
No Republicans: Maher admitted that it was “concerning” that all 87 members of NPR’s editorial board are registered Democrats.
Hunter laptop: Maher also admitted her news outlet was “mistaken in failing to cover the Hunter Biden laptop story more aggressively.”
Her old tweets: Maher was grilled by Texas Congressman Brandon Gill over her past tweets that advocated for White Americans paying reparations.
Far-right / Far-left: Rep. Fallon grilled Kerger over a 6-month analysis of PBS News Hour that found it used the term “far right” 162 times, while “far left” was only used 6 times. Kerger squirmed and said she’d need to see the study herself.
Left-wing propaganda: NPR and PBS haven’t only faced criticism for heavy political bias — they’re also criticized for pushing left-wing gender and racial ideology. For example, PBS produced a movie called 'Real Boy' which follows a transgender teenager through adolescence.
Democrats defended the networks, citing shows like Sesame Street and suggesting Republicans were attacking Elmo and Big Bird.
Defunding the outlets: When asked if he would support defunding NPR and PBS, President Trump told reporters: "I would love to do that... I'd be honored to see it end."
The last word goes to Rep. MTG, who advocated for defunding the outlets, telling the CEOs: "We believe that you can hate us on your own dime."

About a month ago, I was at a butcher in my neighborhood and saw a diagram of a cow, with all the cuts of meat labeled. And that gave me an idea for a t-shirt:
DOGE Butcher Shop — but instead of the cow, we use a pig. And the cuts of meat in the diagram represent all the waste, fraud, and abuse being butchered by the Trump admin.
Over the last few weeks, I worked with a really talented graphic designer who brought it to life. And on Friday I got a sample in the mail and I’m happy to say, it came out better than I’d hoped.
Also, my wife told me I had to mention that the t-shirt it’s printed on is Custom Colors. Apparently, they’re well-known for high-quality materials. I just chose them because they are printed in the U.S. and made with 100 U.S. cotton.
