Good morning, Wake Up Right fam. As the conflict with Iran intensifies, America is mourning the loss of six brave soldiers who died in defense of their country.

The Pentagon has identified 4 of the 6 who served with the 103rd Sustainment Command and were killed in a drone attack in Kuwait:

  • Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor

  • Sgt. Declan Coady

  • Capt. Cody Khork

  • Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens

Please join me in honoring their sacrifice and praying for their families, who now carry the weight of that loss.

Primary takeaways

A turbulent night of primaries reshaped several Congressional seats across Texas and North Carolina – knocking out high-profile incumbents, forcing key runoffs, and exposing deep ideological divides inside both parties

Jazzy blues: The biggest headline came from Texas, where James Talarico defeated Rep. Jasmine Crockett in the Democratic Senate primary.

  • Talarico won 53% to Crockett’s 46%, ending Crockett’s congressional career.

  • Crockett gave up her House seat to run statewide, opening up a Dallas-area House seat that Democrats are already scrambling to fill.

Swamp draining: On the Republican side of Texas, Rep. Dan Crenshaw, who has held the seat since 2018, lost his primary to Steve Toth after years of clashing with the MAGA base over issues like the war in Ukraine.

  • Toth took 56% of the vote while Crenshaw ended the night at 41%.

Texas slobber-knocker: The race for incumbent Republican Sen. John Cornyn's seat is headed to a runoff after no candidate reached the 50% mark.

  • Cornyn ended the night with 41.9%, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton got 40.8%, and Rep. Wesley Hunt nabbed 13.5%.

  • Cornyn and Paxton will head to a runoff on May 26.

Other notable races:

  • Texas House (D-18): Rep. Christian Menefee (45.9%) narrowly leads longtime Democrat Rep. Al Green (44.4%). The two incumbents are facing eachother under a new Texas congressional map. The race has yet to be called.

  • North Carolina (D-4): Rep. Valerie Foushee (49.1%) holds a slim lead over progressive challenger Nida Allam (48.22%). The race has yet to be called.

  • Texas House (R-23): Incumbent Rep. Tony Gonzales (41.7%) was forced into a runoff after finishing second to Brandon Herrera (43.4%) since neither candidate reached 50%.

Big picture: Results aside, last night’s primaries are a reminder that the 2026 midterms are approaching fast. Republicans hold slim majorities in both chambers: 218–214 in the House and 53–47 in the Senate. If President Trump is going to govern without constant Democrat obstruction, November will matter enormously.

Poll results: Do you support President Trump’s actions in Iran?

Yesterday, I asked you to weigh in on President Donald Trump's decision to strike Iran. Here's what you had to say:

Do you support the U.S. military action in Iran?

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Yes (1286)
🟨⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ No (210)
Total votes: 1496

Yes: “President after president declared Iran to be a global threat and never to achieve a nuclear weapon. Both Presidents Obama and Biden allowed (and even paid) for the advancement of Iranian terror and nuclear capabilities all the while Iran was chanting "Death to America" and "Death to Israel". Now within reach of achieving nuclear capabilities and at the same time Donald Trump is President a decisive decision was made. No more excuses. No more time to waste. No more obliging Iran's lies. Bad timing on Iran's part.”

No: “I understand the idea that America protects other nations, but we have so many issues here currently that need to be addressed before we start playing big brother. This isn’t about lack of support for Israel — it’s about our own problems at home.”

Yes: “A strategic approach could include preventing Iran from developing nuclear capabilities, managing the flow of its oil to adversarial governments, reducing Russia’s ability to supply weapons for the conflict in Ukraine… Brilliant strategy by the Trump administration. PEACE through strength!!!

Yes: “Iran’s instability is unacceptable. Their nuclear ambitions and threats to oil routes destabilize the entire region. Weakening Iran also weakens Russia and China. America is back.”

No: "I voted for, No new wars!! This is Israel’s war, and we all know it. Not one American life should be given. And my roads still suck, but yeah, let’s give billions to another Middle East war. America first!!”

Yes: "I trust Trump to analyze the information at hand to make the best decision for the USA… He should frame the ‘why now’ better in plain English."

No: “As someone whose brother was KIA (killed in action), I’m over and against the US putting our soldiers at risk and the fact that our government isn’t transparent about the real reason.” Very sorry for the loss of your brother.

Yes: "As a military veteran, I am proud of President Trump’s bold moves… He may have an enormous ego, but President Trump is a very effective leader.”

Yes: “Iran needed to be stopped. President Trump sees the big picture. He's also surgically precise and utilizes all the weapons at his disposal.”
