SCOTUS gives Trump green light to deport 350K Venezuelans

The Supreme Court (SCOTUS) handed President Donald Trump a major win, ruling he has the authority to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for over 350,000 Venezuelan illegal aliens, overturning a lower-court ruling.

The details: The court ruled 8-1, with only Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson dissenting, that overturned California Judge Edward Chen's ruling that blocked Trump's rollback of the Biden-era program.

What is TPS? It’s a humanitarian program created in 1990 that shields immigrants from deportation if their home countries face conflict or disasters.

Back up: In 2021, Joe Biden designated Venezuela for Temporary Protected Status, essentially granting illegals from that country mass amnesty disguised as a “humanitarian” program.

• In February, Trump removed Venezuela from the list, removing protections for those aliens living in the U.S.

Zoom out: More than 10 million illegal aliens entered the United States while Joe Biden was in the White House. Since Donald Trump returned to office, the monthly border crossings have plummeted, dropping to less than 10,000 in April. For perspective, that's a 93% decrease from the same time last year.

Big picture: TPS was designed for emergencies, not mass amnesty. But under Biden, it became another open-border disaster—one more mess Trump is forced to fix.

Trump calls for investigation of Kamala’s celebrity endorsements

President Donald Trump is calling for investigations into former Vice President Kamala Harris over claims she violated campaign finance laws by paying celebrities for endorsements.

The details: Trump alleges Harris used entertainment payments [not illegal] as a cover to buy endorsements [is illegal] from celebrities like Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Oprah, and Bono.

Trump speaks his Truth: The President took to Truth Social to call out the potential violations, writing:

• “HOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT? WHY DID HE ACCEPT THAT MONEY IF HE IS SUCH A FAN OF HERS? ISN’T THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION? WHAT ABOUT BEYONCÉ? …AND HOW MUCH WENT TO OPRAH, AND BONO??? I am going to call for a major investigation into this matter. Candidates aren’t allowed to pay for ENDORSEMENTS, which is what Kamala did, under the guise of paying for entertainment.”

The numbers: These celebrities were, in fact, paid by the Kamala campaign:

• Oprah’s production company received $1 million

• Beyoncé was paid $165,000

• Lebron James’ firm was paid $50,000

Back up: Trump’s interest in Kamala’s celebrity endorsements started after Bruce Springsteen went on a long, anti-Trump rant while performing abroad in Manchester, saying the U.S. was being assaulted by the "abuses of an unfit president and a rogue government."
