Good morning, Wake Up Right fam! The UN just quietly retired the climate change model that fueled a decade of "world is ending" hysteria – the same one that caused AOC to say in 2019:
‘The world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change.”
We're seven years in. Still here. Turns out the only thing actually melting was the left’s credibility.

GOP swamp throws hissy fit over Trump’s Paxton endorsement

Senate Republicans are having a hissy fit, leaking anonymous threats to left-wing media outlets, vowing to sabotage President Donald Trump's agenda after he endorsed Texas AG Ken Paxton over incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the GOP primary runoff.
The details: Trump's endorsement defied months of lobbying from Senate Majority Leader John Thune, NRSC Chair Tim Scott, and a chorus of incumbents who wanted the establishment pick. Within hours, the knives came out – anonymously.
Anonymous quotes: A senior Republican aide told NOTUS: "If you think you're going to govern between now and the midterms, that ain't f---ing happening." The aide ticked through the roster of GOP senators now positioned to defect:
🤡 Sen. Bill Cassidy: "No f---ing reason to do anything" — per the aide.
🤡 Sen. John Cornyn: He said there is "no reason to prostrate himself" to Trump’s will if Paxton defeats him.
🤡 Sen. Lisa Murkowski: Called the Paxton endorsement "supremely disappointing."
🤡 Sen. Susan Collins: Labeled Paxton "ethically challenged.”
Feline whimpers: Senator Cassidy just got primaried out in Louisiana on Saturday after his 2021 vote to convict Trump. His response? On Tuesday, he announced he'd vote against a Trump-backed immigration enforcement bill because it included funding for the White House ballroom.
Why it matters: This is the GOP swamp openly admitting it would rather sabotage a sitting Republican president than accept that primary voters get to pick their nominees.
Real talk from G: The GOP Senate has been utterly useless since passing the One Big Beautiful Bill last year – complacent RINOs who only care about clinging to power. We need action-forward lawmakers like Paxton.
What’s next? The Cornyn vs. Cornyn runoff is next week on May 26.
The last word goes to longtime Trump ally and former campaign manager, who cut through the noise and said, “This is as much a vote of no confidence in John Thune as it is a vote of confidence in Ken Paxton," – implying that Trump is fed up with a feckless GOP Senate majority.

Everyone has an opinion on 2028. Kalshi lets you put money behind it. Right now, markets are pricing J.D. Vance at 34% for the Republican nomination and Gavin Newsom at 23% for the Democratic side — but those numbers move every day as news breaks.

Trump indicts Cuban dictator once embraced by Obama

The Trump administration just indicted 94-year-old Raúl Castro for the 1996 murder of four Americans — the same communist strongman former President Barack Obama posed with at a baseball game in Havana two decades later.
The details: Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche unsealed the federal indictment Wednesday in Miami, charging the former Cuban president with conspiracy to kill U.S. nationals, destruction of aircraft, and murder.
Five codefendants were also named.
The Trump administration wants Castro tried on U.S. soil.
Back up: The charges stem from Cuba's 1996 shootdown of two civilian planes operated by Brothers to the Rescue, a Miami-based exile group searching for Cubans fleeing the island by boat. Cuban military aircraft fired missiles at the unarmed planes, killing three Americans and one U.S. resident.
Cuba's dire situation: The island is collapsing. Cubans are now living through 22-hour daily blackouts, food shortages, and a healthcare system on life support.
For years, Cuba relied on a supply of free oil from Venezuela to keep the lights on, but after the U.S. Special Forces captured dictator Nicolas Maduro in January, that stream was cut off.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio released a Spanish-language video Wednesday telling the Cuban people the blackouts aren't America's fault – they're the work of regime insiders who've stashed $18 billion in personal wealth while controlling 70% of Cuba's economy through a military-run business empire called GAESA.
Not Obama's Cuba playbook: In March 2016, Obama became the first sitting U.S. president to visit Cuba in nearly 90 years – and he sat next to Raúl Castro at a Havana baseball game, doing the wave with the dictator while Cuban exiles in the U.S. watched in disgust.
Obama restored full diplomatic relations with the regime in 2015, reopened the U.S. embassy, loosened travel and trade restrictions, and removed the dictatorship from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list in 2015 – a designation Trump reinstated.
The last word goes to President Trump, who earlier this spring said: "Cuba is next, by the way. But pretend I didn't say that. Please, please, please media, please disregard that statement. Thank you very much — Cuba's next."
