Trump DOJ charges over a dozen Minnesota fraudsters
A Medicaid fraud suspect lept from a fourth-story balcony to escape the FBI Thursday – capping a Trump administration Department of Justice blitz on Minnesota: 15 new indictments and 41 years for the Feeding Our Future ringleader.
The details: Top Trump officials, including HHS Secretary RFK Jr., CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, and Assistant AG Colin McDonald, announced the charges across seven state Medicaid programs.
15 defendants were indicted for allegedly stealing $90 million from programs for the disabled, homeless, and children with autism.
Muhammad Omar was charged with $3.3M in housing fraud, and he literally jumped from a fourth-floor balcony to try and flee FBI agents.
Fahima Egeh Mahamud – the daycare owner famously exposed in Nick Shirley's viral "Learing Center" video – was hit with new charges for $4.6M in childcare fraud. She had tried to flee to the UK in February before her first arrest.
Hours earlier, Aimee Bock – ringleader of the $250M Feeding Our Future scheme – was sentenced to 41.5 years and ordered to repay $243 million. Her nonprofit falsely billed for 91 million meals that were never served.
Real talk from G: What makes this fraud especially gross is that the programs being exploited are designed to help the most vulnerable.
Ignored red flags: Minnesota's Housing Stabilization budget exploded from $2.5 million to $104 million at the height of the fraud.
