Good morning, Wake Up Right fam! While prepping today’s newsletter, I came across an article about the iconic but past its prime food chain – Hooters. It had quotes from the CEO talking about becoming a more “family friendly” restaurant.
Hm… Permission to go PG-13?
Hooters whole identity is about breasts, thighs, and wings. And only the last one is a menu item. If you remove the first two, you’re just Applebees with worse wings and a logo that makes no sense. 🦉

Trump wrangles Texas

Texas voters lassoed some big electoral wins for President Donald Trump on Tuesday, decisively selecting Ken Paxton, the incumbent establishment Republican. And across the aisle, Democrats voted to remove one of the most theatrical anti-Trump members of the House.
Paxton crushes Cornyn: Trump endorsed Paxton just seven days before the runoff, turning a March squeaker into a Tuesday blowout. The Associated Press called the race shortly after polls closed.
🌊 Paxton led Cornyn roughly 64% to 36% with the bulk of votes counted.
👋 Cornyn conceded, ending his 24-year Senate career.
🤑 Big spender: Cornyn outspent Paxton with help from roughly $60 million in out-of-state funding.
⏭ What's next? Paxton will face Democratic state Rep. James Talarico in November - a guy with a clean, Christian boy image that quietly supports transgender ideology and open borders.
Green wiped out: In TX-18, freshman Rep. Christian Menefee dispatched longtime Rep. Al Green roughly 69% to 31% in a Democrat-on-Democrat runoff that took place thanks to Texas' recent redistricting – a move championed by Trump.
🤡 Congressional court jester: Green filed multiple impeachment resolutions against Trump during the president’s first term. Last year, he had to be removed from the chamber because he kept shouting during President Trump's 2025 joint address to Congress.
The numbers: Trump went 4-for-4 in Texas endorsements, with Paxton joining Carlos De La Cruz in TX-35, Alex Mealer in TX-09, and Jon Bonck in TX-38 in the win column.
Big picture: Trump’s endorsement remains the single most decisive force in Republican primaries.
The last word goes to President Trump who, just as I was about to hit SEND on today’s newsletter, weighed in on the Texas Senate race, writing:
“Congratulations to Ken Paxton on such a tremendous win, and to John Cornyn for having run a strong and powerful race but, more importantly, having had a truly great career. John will remain my friend for a long time to come, as we both watch Ken become a fantastic, common sense Senator, one who is respected by all. His opponent, Alfred E. Neuman, may be the worst TEXAS candidate I have ever seen. A strong Open Borders advocate, he is WEAK ON CRIME, believes there are 6 genders, is insulting to Jesus Christ, will never support the Military, was a big Mask Wearer until recently, and is a Vegan who dislikes meat, not exactly a good way to be if you’re wanting to win an Election in Texas. Jasmine Crockett, a very low IQ individual, who is no relation to the legendary frontiersman, Davy Crockett, would have been a far better choice for the Dumocrats. I will do some nice, big, beautiful rallies for Ken. Texas, this will be FUN! GOD BLESS AMERICA. President DJT”

Trump uses immigration procedures as a tool

The Trump administration just opened two new fronts in the deportation push: mass-style courtrooms designed to clear cases by the hundred, and a fresh DHS directive aimed squarely at the immigration lawyers filing asylum claims.
Front one — the courts: The Department of Justice has rolled out "mega master" hearings, with as many as 100 illegal aliens scheduled in a single session. Judges have been instructed to deny bond, dismiss cases, and order removals as quickly as the law allows.
Roughly 600 military lawyers have been deputized as temporary immigration judges to chew through the backlog of over 3 million active cases.
More than 100 judges have been fired since last year, with 150-plus new hires brought in to replace them.
Illegals who skip a hearing or fail to respond now face immediate removal.
Front two — the lawyers: A May 26 memo from DHS General Counsel James Percival ordered ICE attorneys to aggressively pursue administrative fraud cases against immigration lawyers accused of filing false asylum claims. Percival argued it has become "standard practice" for attorneys to claim "virtually every illegal alien" faces persecution back home.
Civil penalties run up to $4,730 per fraudulent document on a first offense and $11,823 on repeat violations.
Fraud findings can also be referred for disbarment from immigration court practice.
The memo invokes Trump's March order targeting "Big Law" firms bringing what the White House calls "frivolous" immigration litigation.
The numbers: According to DHS, nearly 3 million illegal aliens have left the country in Trump's first year back in office — roughly 675,000 through formal deportation and an estimated 2.2 million through self-deportation.
Big picture: The administration figured out what slowed down Trump 1.0: process. So this time, they're using process as the weapon. Faster hearings mean faster removals. Squeezing the lawyers means fewer claims gumming up the system in the first place.
