Welcome back, folks. Rudy Giuliani – former New York City mayor, “America’s Mayor,” and a true American patriot – was hospitalized last night and is reportedly “in critical but stable condition.”
Rudy is a real one. He led New York with courage in the dark days after 9/11, then stood shoulder to shoulder with President Trump and the MAGA movement when it mattered most. Please take a minute today to say a prayer for Rudy and his family.

Trump takes on the Germans

President Donald Trump is leaving Germany to defend itself and trashing Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Truth Social after the European “ally” decided to lecture the United States in the middle of a war.
The details: What started as a single bad take from Merz has snowballed into the worst U.S.-Germany rift in years. Here's how it unraveled:
🗓 April 28: Speaking to students in Marsberg, Merz said the U.S. was "being humiliated by the Iranian leadership" and that "the Americans clearly have no strategy" on Iran.
🗓 April 29: Trump fired back on Truth Social, saying Merz "thinks it's OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon" and "doesn't know what he's talking about."
🗓 April 30: Trump told Merz to stop "interfering" and start "fixing his broken Country, especially Immigration and Energy."
🗓 May 2: The Pentagon ordered 5,000 U.S. troops out of Germany within 12 months, and Trump says the cuts will go "a lot further than 5,000."
The numbers: Germany hosts roughly 35,000 American troops and Ramstein Air Base, the headquarters of U.S. European Command. U.S. troops have been there since defeating the Nazis in 1945.
What this means: Trump is signaling that allies who undermine American policy in public don't get to keep enjoying American protection for free.
Trump’s right about German immigration & energy: Germany's economy shrank two years running after Berlin cut off cheap Russian gas and watched energy prices explode. And immigration is still a mess — the right-wing AfD is climbing in the polls because voters don't think Merz is actually fixing the border as he promised.
Real talk from G: Germany has spent decades pocketing the savings from American military protection and funneling that money into cradle-to-grave healthcare and retirement at 63. Then their Chancellor lectures us about strategy in a war they won't lift a finger to help with? Trump's right to start packing the trucks. Want to play welfare-state utopia? Pay for your own defense.

Iran’s oil overfloweth

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says Iran is just days away from being forced to shut down its oil wells – the result of the Trump administration’s naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz that's left Tehran with nowhere to put its crude, crippling the regime’s only real source of cash.
The details: Bessent, speaking on Sunday Morning Futures, explained how President Trump's order to block the Strait of Hormuz on April 13 has left Iran's oil with nowhere to go, and storage tanks are reaching their limit.
The numbers: Kharg Island – which handles 90% of Iran's crude exports – was already at ~74% capacity by April 20, with industry safety limits at 80%.
Time is running out: Bessent says wells will start shutting in "in the next week.” Global shipping data firm Kpler pegs the deadline closer to 12–22 days.
What happens if they shut down? Once wells shut, they don't just turn back on. Forced shut-ins could permanently destroy 300,000–500,000 barrels per day of Iranian capacity.
Let’s talk dollars: That could wipe out $9-$15 billion in annual revenue forever. Iran is already bleeding an estimated $170 million per day in lost oil revenue due to the blockade.
America first: U.S. oil producers are reaping the benefits of the blockade, with exports hitting a record 5.2 million barrels per day – up from 3.89 million in February, with buyers from Asia and elsewhere.
Big picture: The Trump administration is strangling Iran’s only income stream. And it’s betting that the economic grip will eventually suffocate the regime into submission.
One caveat: This strategy is basically economic chicken. Trump is betting Iran blinks first. Iran is betting rising gas prices — now at a $4.45 national average, the highest since summer 2022 – put political pressure back on the U.S. president.
