Mitch’s last ditch to stop Trump

Mitch McConnell is leading a shadow campaign to install an anti-Trump Republican as Senate Majority Leader as he slithers out of the position. But the President-elect’s allies are putting Senators on notice ahead of a key vote.

Back up: Earlier this year, McConnell announced he would step down as Republican leader in the Senate following a string of public, cognitive lapses.

The details: On Wednesday, Republican members of the Senate will vote for their new leader — an early vote engineered by McConnell. The vote will be cast by secret ballot, intended to keep you from knowing who your senators voted for. Below are the three candidates and their conservative scorecard ratings:

• ❌ John Cornyn - 35% conservative

• ❌ John Thune - 37% conservative

• ✅ Rick Scott - 92% conservative

MAGA responds: The first shot was fired by Tucker Carlson, who wrote on X over the weekend:

• “What the hell is going on in the US Senate? Hours after Donald Trump wins the most conclusive mandate in 40 years, Mitch McConnell engineers a coup against his agenda... Two of the three candidates hate Trump and what he ran on. One of them, John Cornyn, is an angry liberal whose politics are indistinguishable from Liz Cheney’s.”

The cavalry arrives: Over the weekend, several key figures in the Trump ecosystem threw their support behind Se. Scott:

• Elon Musk wrote on X: "Rick Scott for Senate Majority Leader!"

• RFK Jr. responded to Tucker’s post, saying: “Without Rick Scott, the entire Trump reform agenda [is] wobbly.”

• Senator Rand Paul wrote on X: "I will be supporting Rick Scott for Senate Majority Leader."

The list leaks: A source inside the GOP leaked an unofficial whip county, which was shared by conservative influencer Benny Johnson. According to this list, Thune had the most support with 24 votes. Cornyn had 18, and Scott had 11.

Take action: Call your senator today and demand they publicly endorse Senator Rick Scott. Tell them anything short of a public endorsement will be assumed to be a vote for one of the other two.

Big picture: Voters gave President-elect Trump a mandate with his landslide win. Voters even gave him control of both chambers of Congress. The directive is clear: Bring change. So McConnell’s snake-like moves aren’t just meant to thwart Trump — they’re meant to thwart the will of the people.

FEMA leader instructed relief workers to skip Trump supporters’ homes

A FEMA official was fired after she was exposed telling relief workers to skip over homes with Trump signs — confirming an accusation made by now President-elect Trump, which was criticized by the New York Times.

FEMA: Federal Emergency Management Agency

The details: Marn’i Washington was a FEMA crew leader overseeing Hurricane Milton cleanup in Highland County, Florida. According to internal messages obtained by The Daily Wire and confirmed by federal employees:

• Washington told relief workers to: “avoid homes advertising Trump.”

• FEMA Whistleblowers allege she repeated this verbally.

• Worker logs include notes like: “Trump sign no entry per leadership,” or simply, “Trump sign,” confirming her directives were followed.

Zoom out: At least 20 homes with Trump signs or flags were skipped due to Washington’s directive, meaning they were not given access to FEMA assistance.

FEMA responded to the report by firing Washington and calling her actions "horrifying" but claiming it was an "isolated incident."

• The agency says all skipped homes will receive visits.

Ok, but… According to the Daily Wire whistleblower, an internal complaint was filed weeks ago, but she received no disciplinary action until after this story broke.

Trump was right: Last month, the New York Times published an article titled 'Trump's False Claims About the Federal Response to Hurricane Helene' claiming he "falsely" accused the Biden regime of "neglecting areas that had voted for Republicans." So far, they have not issued a correction.

Follow up: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says his state Division of Emergency Management will be investigating the incident, and two House committees have also launched an investigation into FEMA’s actions.

Big picture: The Biden regime has not been shy about weaponizing federal agencies — from DOJ to HHS — against Republicans. But politicizing hurricane relief is a new low.
