Wake Up Right - November 12, 2025

`

Good morning, Wake Up Right fam! Let’s start the day on a high note. Students at a Rhode Island high school are proving the future is bright after their social studies teacher, a sad lib named Benjamin Fillo, put out a video on TikTok mocking Charlie Kirk’s death.
While I, a grown man in his 30s, am inclined to name and shame this unstable loser, these students were much classier. They responded by creating a Turning Point USA chapter at school to combat the intolerance and create a “free and safe space” for conservative students to “speak their own personal values.”
Well done, Barrington High School TPUSA. 👏 .

How mass immigration drives up rent prices

A new report from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) argues that high levels of immigration - both legal and illegal - are driving America’s housing affordability crisis by fueling demand in supply-strapped markets.
The details: The 2025 FAIR study finds that America’s housing shortage “would not be nearly as severe” if not for consistently high immigration inflows. Let’s break it down:
The U.S. admits roughly 1.4 million green card holders per year, plus hundreds of thousands on temporary work visas - not counting illegals. Between 2010 and 2020, over 11 million new green cards were issued, enough to occupy nearly every new home built during that period, FAIR says.
A 5-point rise in the immigrant share of a metro area’s population correlates with a 12% increase in rents for U.S.-born residents, per data from the Center for Immigration Studies.
Immigrants, who rent at higher rates than native-born Americans, disproportionately strain working-class neighborhoods in major cities
The numbers: From 2019 to 2024, the share of zip codes with median rents under $2,000 plunged from 83% to 33% for multifamily units, and from 36% to 2% for single-family homes.
What they’re saying:
FAIR: “Mass immigration generates constant demand that raises prices and maintains them at unnaturally high levels.”
Vice President JD Vance: “You can’t flood the U.S. with tens of millions of people and not expect home prices to skyrocket.”
The proof in the pudding: The Wall Street Journal reports that rents have cooled this year amid Trump’s immigration crackdown and “negative net migration.”
Big picture: People don’t correlate Trump’s deportation efforts as an economic policy, but it certainly is. The laws of supply and demand aren’t suspended just because someone is an illegal alien. Everyone removed from the country is a win for American rents, wages, and overall affordability.

Law & Order: Chicago

President Donald Trump says violent crime in Chicago has cratered since the launch of Operation Midway Blitz despite the "extraordinary resistance" from local lawmakers and radical, violent leftists.
The details: In a post on Truth Social, Trump credited the federal operation, launched in September, with major reductions in crime across key metrics:
🔻 Shootings ~35%
🔻 Robberies ~41%
🔻 Carjackings ~48%
🔻 Homicides ~16%
🔻 Transit crime ~20%
One example of the type of criminal being targeted by federal agents is the dirtbag pictured above. His name is Alan Garcia, a Mexican national, whose rap sheet includes:
felony strangulation
domestic battery
unlawful use of a firearm.
aggravated battery against a handicapped or pregnant woman
…that’s who the left is trying to protect.
In spite of the left: Trump noted in his post, “This has been achieved despite the extraordinary resistance from Chicago and Illinois Radical Democrat ‘Leadership.’”
What the left is saying: Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson have denounced the federal raids, calling them politically motivated. Both oppose the expanded ICE presence.
Left-wing violence: These results come at a cost. DHS assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin highlighted how agents faced multiple assaults and vehicle rammings during coordinated October 22 raids, calling it "one of the most violent days we’ve had."
These raids targeted violent criminals and previously deported illegals with criminal records.
Zoom out: In recent months, Trump has also used federal agents successfully in Washington, D.C., and Tennessee to tackle violent crime and illegal aliens.
What's next? Trump says the next phase will include a "full surge" of federal agents.
