Wake Up Right - October 1, 2024
Good morning, Wake Up Right fam! Kamala Harris was mocked on social media for posting this photo on her X account:
Look closely: The earbuds aren’t even plugged into the phone 🤣 . While Kamala was playing pretend, Trump was on the ground with people affected by Hurricane Helene. And when he saw this photo, he responded on X, writing:
“Another FAKE and STAGED photo from someone who has no clue what she is doing. You have to plug the cord into the phone for it to work!”

Trump leads while Kamala and Biden are missing in action
Donald Trump traveled to storm-ravaged Valdosta, Georgia, to deliver much-needed supplies and spend time with affected families while Kamala Harris and Joe Biden were nowhere to be seen.
The details: Trump joined Samaritan's Purs [a Christian evangelical humanitarian aid group] and its president, Franklin Graham, in Valdosta to assist with relief efforts and distribute essential supplies.
Trump commented: "We brought truckloads of supplies. Franklin's organization is incredible, and we're getting everything from oil to water to essential equipment."
Trump 🤝 Musk: Trump told reporters he had spoken to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk about using his Starlink satellites to provide cell service to areas ravaged by Hurricane Helene.
Trump said: "I just spoke to Elon... We want to get Starlink hooked up because they have no communication whatsoever."
Zoom out: At least 125 people have died as a result of Hurricane Helene. Entire counties are under feet of water, 1.5 million are still without energy, and an unknown number of people are missing.
Missing leaders: Over the weekend, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris chose not to return to Washington, D.C., to command the hurricane response and instead kept to their schedules. For Biden, that meant a weekend at his Delaware beach home, and for Kamala, a star-studded fundraiser in Los Angeles.
Joe Biden plans to visit North Carolina tomorrow.
The last word goes to Donald Trump, who said yesterday: “In our hearts, God is strongly with us and the American people are stronger than any challenge that stands in our way. Working together, we will overcome these hardships, we will endure.”

Tim Walz lied about being at the Tiananmen Square massacre
For decades, Tim Walz has claimed he witnessed the Tiananmen Square crackdown. That has been proven to be a lie — adding to a growing list of lies the VP candidate has told about his past.
Back up: The Tiananmen Square massacre took place on June 4, 1989, when Chinese troops violently suppressed pro-democracy protests, killing hundreds to thousands of demonstrators.
Walz’s claim: During a 2014 congressional hearing to mark the 25th anniversary of the massacre, Tim Walz [a congressman at the time] recalled: "[I] was in Hong Kong in May of ‘89. And as the events were unfolding, several of us went in. And I still remember the train station in Hong Kong."
This story has been repeated over the years, without scrutiny, by many mainstream media outlets.
Reality check: Walz didn’t leave for China until August 1989, two months after the student protests ended.
Newspaper archives place Tim Walz in Nebraska in May of 1989, working at a National Guard Armory.
His campaign could not provide evidence to back up his claim.
Big picture: Walz has previously exaggerated his resume, claiming he is a "retired command sergeant major,” which he is not. His fellow servicemen also exposed him for abandoning them weeks before shipping out to Iraq in 2005.
