Trump inks deal with Australia to combat China

The U.S. and Australia just locked in a rare-earths alliance aimed at breaking China’s grip on the world’s most critical minerals.
The details: President Donald Trump and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese signed an $8.5 billion framework yesterday to secure supply chains for rare earths and defense-critical minerals. Both nations will invest $1 billion each in mining and processing projects. In addition:
🇺🇸 U.S. commitments: The Export-Import Bank will issue $2.2 billion in financing for up to $5 billion in projects. The Department of War will fund a 100-ton-per-year gallium refinery in Western Australia.
🇦🇺 Australia commitments: It will purchase $3.8 billion in U.S. defense hardware, including Apache helicopters and unmanned underwater vehicles, and will invest $1 billion into America’s submarine industrial base.
Quote: During the signing, Trump said: “In about a year from now, we’ll have so much critical mineral and rare earth that you won’t know what to do with them.”
Zoom out: China dominates the rare earth market, controlling 70% of global production. Earlier this month, it imposed export restrictions on the critical minerals, framed as “national security measures.” Trump responded by threatening 100% tariffs on Chinese imports.
Friends in low places: Our alliance with Australia is key to keeping China in check, as it sits just south of major Asian flashpoints. They host U.S. air, naval, and Marine bases that project power deep into the Indo-Pacific.
What’s next? Trump plans to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping later this month amid rising trade tensions.

DHS arrests nearly half a million illegals

President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has made nearly half a million arrests since January – a sweeping crackdown targeting criminal illegal aliens.
The details: DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said the agency has arrested over 480,000 illegal aliens in nine months. Roughly 70% had criminal charges or convictions.
Noem said: “We’re going after the worst of the worst. We will not let these individuals terrorize our streets anymore.”
What kind of criminals? DHS provided some examples:
Erick Carlos Artiles Ramos, Cuba: Previously convicted of homicide, kidnapping, and armed carjacking.
Oscar Alfredo Retana Marroquin, El Salvador: Twice deported, convicted of sexual assault of a child and DUI.
The big number: Last month, DHS announced that over 2 million illegal aliens have either been deported or have self-deported since Trump returned to the White House.
City by city: DHS raids have centered on Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Boston – all sanctuary cities that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.
Zoom out: For the past four months, the Trump administration has effectively closed the border, with zero illegals allowed into the U.S.
Up next: This week, DHS announced Operation River Wall to secure the Rio Grande against illegal immigration, narco-terrorists, and other criminal activity.
