Good morning, Wake Up Right fam! This morning, I walked down the driveway to grab the newspaper [A local newspaper. I don’t pay for mainstream media slop], and the cool air hit me as leaves crunched below my feet, and it finally sunk in: Fall has arrived.
Hope you’re enjoying the fall vibes this morning, however you prefer – maybe a pumpkin spice latte or a warm apple cider donut. Me? I’m just thrilled it’s hoodie season again.

Trump tightens the screws on Putin

The U.S. imposed sweeping sanctions on Russia’s two largest oil companies Wednesday – as President Donald Trump seeks to pressure the Kremlin into a peace deal.
The details: The Treasury Department sanctioned Rosneft Oil Company and Lukoil OAO, along with dozens of subsidiaries, under Executive Order 14024. The move blocks access to U.S. financial systems and prohibits U.S. entities from doing business with them.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the penalties respond to “Russia’s lack of serious commitment to a peace process.”
Zoom out: The sanctions come days after a planned summit between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin was scrapped amid stalled negotiations.
U.S. allies are the key: Bessent warned U.S. allies to “join us or risk secondary sanctions.” So far, the European Union and the United Kingdom have rolled out matching sanctions packages.
China is the largest purchaser of Russian energy. Behind them are India, Turkey, and the EU. Trump is exerting strong pressure on India – including through tariffs – to break its dependence on Russian energy, but it has not budged.
Back up: The war in Ukraine has been going on since February 2022.
Battlefield influence? The National Pulse reports:
“Russia may be stalling because it believes it is close to a significant military breakthrough in a war that has been stalemated for months, with reports indicating that Ukraine may be on the verge of retreating from the lynchpin fortress city of Pokrovsk, in the hotly contested Donbass (Donbas) region.
Real talk from G: Remember that everything Trump does is a negotiation. This doesn’t mean peace talks are done. He’s tightening the screws.

LA teacher tells people to shoot ICE officers

When I first started this newsletter, there used to be a ‘Donkey of the Day’ section. If that were still around today, this fool would be today’s winner.
A Los Angeles high school teacher and anti-ICE activist is under fire after appearing to endorse shooting federal immigration agents – just hours after a shooting involving ICE officers and an illegal immigrant.
The details: Ron Gochez, a teacher at Maya Angelou Community High School in Los Angeles made the remarks during a press conference Tuesday criticizing the Trump administrations use of ICE raids to arrest criminal illegal aliens.
What did he say? Gochez warned that ICE agents “are not the only ones with guns in this city,” and added that “people have every right to defend themselves against masked, unidentified gunmen.”
Back up: His comments came shortly after an ICE operation in South L.A. where an illegal alien from Mexico rammed federal vehicles before being shot by agents. A ricochet bullet also struck a U.S. Marshal.
City pushback: Local officials and parents have condemned the remarks as “reckless,” prompting the Los Angeles Unified School District to review the incident.
Big picture: This rhetoric is the dangerous new norm that we’ve come to expect from the left. Gochez’s words are going to get his people killed.
