Good news, folks! CNN is launching a new streaming subscription service called 'All Access' with a price tag of $6.99 a month…
I’m old enough to remember when they launched the CNN+ streaming service in March 2022. It lasted less than a month before it was shut down due to no demand.
So what’s the new sales pitch on this app?

Trump and Xi strike deal

President Donald Trump declared “we have a deal” after his first face-to-face with Chinese President Xi Jinping since returning to the White House – a major breakthrough, capping off a historic trip across Asia.
The details: Meeting in Busan, South Korea, the two leaders struck a one-year framework agreement to stabilize U.S.-China relations after months of tariff escalation. Key areas include:
Rare earths: China agreed to pause export restrictions on critical minerals used in semiconductors, magnets, and EV batteries — avoiding Trump’s threatened 100% tariffs on Chinese goods.
Fentanyl: Xi pledged a renewed crackdown on synthetic opioid exports. In return, Trump said the U.S. would cut tariffs on Chinese imports by roughly 10 points, lowering the average rate from 57.6% to 47.6%.
Trade: China will resume buying “tremendous amounts of soybeans” and begin purchasing U.S. oil and gas, including from Alaska.
Recapping the Asia trip: It was a historic week for President Trump that saw him:
Broker a cease-fire between Thailand and Cambodia
Sign landmark trade and investment deals with Malaysia and Vietnam
Secured a $350 billion defense-investment pact from South Korea,
Locked in a $550 billion investment and technology pledge from Japan
What Trump thinks: Aboard Air Force One, Trump told reporters: “On a scale of 0 to 10, I’d call it a 12. It was an amazing meeting.”
What happens next? Trump plans to visit China in April, with Xi expected to make a reciprocal trip later this year.

Trump’s plans for death row killers pardoned by Biden

President Donald Trump has ordered the 37 convicted murderers whose death sentences were commuted by Joe Biden to spend the rest of their lives in the country’s harshest prison.
Back up: Before leaving office, President Biden commuted 37 federal death sentences, citing moral opposition to executions.
The details: Hours after Trump was sworn in, he canceled Biden’s plans to move them to less restrictive prisons and instead had nearly all of them sent to the ADX Florence “Supermax” in Colorado – a facility designed for terrorists and the most violent offenders where inmates spend 23 hours per day in isolation.
Who were these killers? Among those spared execution by Biden:
Daniel Troya and Ricardo Sanchez Jr.: Murdered a Florida couple and their two young sons.
Daryl Lawrence: Murdered a Columbus, Ohio, police officer.
Billie Allen and Norris Holder: Murdered a St. Louis police officer.
David Runyon: A contract killer found guilty of a 2007 murder-for-hire scheme.
Justice for victims: Attorney General Pam Bondi said last month:
“President Biden’s decision to commute the death sentences of these monsters showed abhorrent disregard for our justice system and total disrespect for victims’ families already suffering through immense loss.”
She added that the Trump administration “will ensure that they spend the remainder of their lives in conditions consistent with the egregious crimes they committed.”
What the other side says: The ACLU, representing 21 of the inmates, accused the Trump Department of Justice of "inflicting maximum suffering" for political revenge.
Zoom out: On Trump's first day back in office, he canceled Biden's moratorium on federal executions.
Real talk from G: I understand the religious argument against capital punishment. And mercy has its place – but evil doesn’t stop when we turn the other cheek. Some crimes demand consequences that match the horror of the act, not for the satisfaction of retribution – but to deter the next monster.
