Trump acts after assaults on Border Patrol

Federal agents in Chicago were violently attacked Saturday when two suspects rammed their vehicles into a Border Patrol SUV during an immigration operation, prompting gunfire and a swift FBI response.

The details: The conflict began when a convoy of civilian vehicles tailed a Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Chevy Tahoe carrying three agents in Broadview, Illinois, blowing through lights and stop signs before boxing the agents in.

• An SUV driven by anti-ICE extremists, Marimar "La Maggie" Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos, then rammed into the CBP SUV from behind repeatedly.

• As agents exited the SUV, Martinez attempted to run them over, forcing officers to deploy their weapons and fire five defensive shots. One struck her.

• According to a Homeland Security press release: “One of the drivers who rammed the law enforcement vehicle was armed with a semi-automatic weapon.”

Back up: Martinez was named in a CBP intelligence bulletin last week for doxing agents online.

Charges: The pair will be charged with forcibly assaulting, impeding, and interfering with a federal law enforcement officer. They should get attempted murder of a federal officer.

Zoom out: ICE operates a facility in Broadview, a village of roughly 8,000 residents.

The numbers: There has been a 1,000% increase in assaults on ICE officers this year.

Stand down order: Over the weekend, Chicago police officers were ordered by their chief of patrol not to respond after Border Patrol agents called for help.

• The National Fraternal Order of Police released a statement condemning Chicago Police commanders for the stand-down order, saying: "When an officer calls for assistance, you answer, no matter what."

What they’re saying:

• Democrat Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker wrote on X: “Donald Trump and Kristi Noem are using every lever to provoke our communities and incite chaos.”

• Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said: “Sanctuary politicians like @JBPritzker have not only turned over their states to violent illegal aliens, they are also actively working against law enforcement in support of lawless anarchists.”

What’s next? President Trump authorized the deployment of 300 National Guard troops to Illinois to assist immigration enforcement as it falls under threat from far-left radicals.

The last word goes to U.S. Border Patrol Sector Chief Gregory Bovino, who reacted to Gov. Pritzker, saying:

• "I don't think the governor has ever stepped foot near a Tren de Aragua member or MS-13 member or any other bad person... So he probably wouldn't understand... It might be way over his head. But don't worry, Gov. Pritzker, we've got it from here. And this is just the beginning... We're gonna turn n' burn, governor... Until they quit or are all deported and go home. And as far as [Pritzker], he can either get on board or watch from the sidelines."

Meanwhile, in Portlandia: Texas has provided President Trump with 400 National Guard troops to combat the far-left ANTIFA mobs that are attempting to blockade ICE facilities. This comes after a left-wing judge barred the administration from federalizing the guard himself.
