Dem AG hopeful’s violent texts revealed

Virginia Democratic attorney general nominee Jay Jones is facing calls to quit the race after messages surfaced in which he joked about shooting a Republican colleague and wishing death on that lawmaker’s children.

The details: The 2022 texts, obtained by National Review, show Jones telling GOP Delegate Carrie Coyner he’d “go to [then-Republican Speaker Todd Gilbert’s] funeral to piss on [his] grave,” and later writing: “Three people, two bullets — Gilbert, Hitler, and Pol Pot. Gilbert gets both bullets.”

• Wishing death on kids: In follow-up texts, Jones wished Gilbert's wife could see her children die so her husband could face his support for the Second Amendment. Jones added that the Gilbert family was “evil” and “breeding little fascists.”

• Cop-hater: Jones also said, "Maybe if a few [cops] died, they would move on, not shooting people."

Apology not accepted: Jones apologized after the texts became public, saying he was “embarrassed, ashamed, and sorry.” But in the same breath, he blamed “Trump-controlled media” for weaponizing the story.”

Zoom out: Jones is running to unseat Virginia Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares.

What they’re saying: 

• The right: President Trump wrote on Truth Social that the texts were “SICK and DEMENTED” and added that “Democrat Jay Jones should drop out of the Race, IMMEDIATELY.”

• The left: While some Virginia Democrats have condemned the texts, they have stopped short of calling for him to drop out of the race.

The numbers: Jones was leading the race before these reports. Online betting platform Polymarket currently lists Jones as a 54% favorite.

Back up: In 2021, Jones tried to get a police lieutenant fired over a $25 donation he made to Kyle Rittenhouse's legal defense fund after he fatally shot two rioters in self-defense in 2020.

Biden regime spied on GOP Senators

Newly revealed FBI record shows that Jack Smith’s special-counsel team – operating under the Biden Justice Department – spied on eight Republican senators and one House member as part of its Jan. 6 investigation.

The details: The 2023 FBI document shows agents gathered data on the lawmaker’s call times, duration, and general locations for calls made between January 4 and 7, 2021.

Who was spied on? Senators Lindsey Graham, Josh Hawley, Ron Johnson, Tommy Tuberville, Marsha Blackburn, Bill Hagerty, Cynthia Lummis, Dan Sullivan, and Rep. Mike Kelly.

Back up: The probe, codenamed “Arctic Frost,” was part of Smith’s broader investigation into alleged “election conspiracy” efforts linked to Trump’s lawful effort to challenge the results of the 2020 election.

Quote: Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who obtained the document from FBI Director Kash Patel, wrote on X: “BIDEN FBI WEAPONIZATION = WORSE THAN WATERGATE.”

Intentional cover-up: The FBI told Grassley that they found the files in a "prohibited access" folder.

Zoom out: The Justice Department, under President Donald Trump, has moved aggressively to rein in the worst actors within the deep state – most notably charging former FBI Director James Comey for lying to Congress.

Back up: During the Biden regime, the Department of Justice acted as an unchecked hammer for the Democrat party, pursuing multiple indictments against Donald Trump and pressuring social media platforms to suppress conservative free speech.
