Wake Up Right - September 23, 2024
Welcome back, folks. I have bad news. Over the weekend, Kamala Harris picked up a major endorsement…
…from the IRS union. Yes, the people in charge of taking your hard-earned income think Kamala is the best candidate to lead this country. Maybe next weekend she’ll pick up an endorsement from Diddy. Too soon?

Kamala wants you to think she’s pro-Second Amendment
Kamala Harris is trying very hard to convince rural voters she will not strip away their Second Amendment rights, most recently telling Oprah she’d shoot a home intruder if the opportunity arose.
The Oprah line: During a campaign event with Oprah last week, Kamala seemed to support ‘stand-your-ground’ laws, telling the host: "If somebody breaks in my house, they're getting shot… I probably should not have said that.”
The comment was meant to be off-the-cuff, but like most of Kamala’s lines, this was likely staged in advance. Nevertheless, the clip did go viral.
Reality check: Unfortunately for Kamala, this viral sound bite does not jive with comments she made in 2020, where she claimed: “These stand-your-ground laws have often… been used as an excuse, if not a cover, for people motivated by race and racial profiling.”
Back up: Harris first unveiled her new, pro-2A persona during the presidential debate earlier this month, when she told Donald Trump: "Tim Walz and I are both gun owners. We're not taking anybody's guns away, so stop with the continuous lying."
Authoritarian tendencies: If you really want to gauge where Harris’ heart is on gun rights [and private property rights], travel back to 2007, before she was in the national spotlight when she was Attorney General of California and said:
"Just because you legally posess a gun in the safety of your locked home, doesn't mean that we're not going to walk into that locked home and check to see if you're being responsible.
Big picture: Kamala is moderating her position on Second Amendment rights because she knows her path to victory in 2024 runs through swing states like Pennsylvania and Michigan. If she wants to win those states, she needs to convince working-class voters that she will not take away their guns. Don’t believe her.

Kamala was given $42 billion to connect underserved Americans to the internet. So far, zero have been connected.
More than 1,000 days ago, Joe Biden appointed Kamala Harris as his “broadband czar,” intended to lead the effort to spend $42 billion in tax dollars to make broadband internet available to lower-income Americans. Today, zero homes have been connected.
The details: On November 15, 2021, Joe Biden signed the trillion-dollar Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act into law. That bill created the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program, with $42.5 billion in funding to extend high-speed internet to unserved areas.
Biden tapped Kamala Harris to be his point person on the project.
The result: It's been 1,043 days since that bill passed, and zero homes have been connected.
What happened? Red tape. The Biden-Harris National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has burdened states with paperwork and red tape.
Trump reacts: At a recent rally, Donald Trump commented on the failure, saying:
“In 2021, Joe Biden tasked Kamala Harris with bringing broadband to rural America — rural America was dying for it — and gave her $42 billion to do the job. Three years later, right now, not a single home has been connected to broadband.”
The big issue: These funds expire after five years. So, Kamala's lack of leadership could see this initiative go to waste, leaving underserved Americans… underserved.
Big picture: Whether it’s the border or broadband, Kamala’s track record as Vice President leaves little to the imagination for what a presidency would look like: failure and waste.
