NYC Mayor Indicted

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been indicted on federal corruption charges, according to a report from The New York Times.

The details: Right now, the indictment is sealed, so the charges are unknown, but according to the report, it focuses on “whether Mr. Adams and his campaign conspired with the Turkish government to receive illegal foreign donations.”

Back up: The indictment follows months of turmoil within Adams' administration, with several top officials, including his police commissioner and chief counsel, resigning amid separate investigations.

Historic: Adams will become the first sitting mayor of New York City to be indicted.

Adams responds: In a video statement yesterday, Adams said: “It is now my belief that the federal government intends to charge me with crimes. If so, these charges would be entirely false based on lies.”

AOC says step down: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to social media yesterday to call on Adams to step down, writing: “I do not see how Mayor Adams can continue governing New York City. The flood of resignations and vacancies are threatening gov function… For the good of the city, he should resign.”

• Adams responded, telling a local TV reporter: “I don’t listen to those comments that come from a, you know, just basically a no-show congresswoman. She’s not doing constituent services in her district."

What happens next? It’s rumored the indictment will be unsealed sometime today.

Real talk from G: I’m no special pleader for Eric Adams, but something feels off about this. You don’t typically see the levers of weaponized Democrat power like the SDNY going after their own. Adams did something to upset the regime. Maybe this is retribution for him frequently going off the Democrat script when illegal aliens invaded New York City? I’m not sure. I don’t pretend to - or want to - know what lurks on the underbelly of Democrat politics. But It sounds like Adams found out.

FBI knew Crooks was around the building 27 minutes before first shot

A shocking Senate report revealed new details about the July 13 assassination attempt on Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania — including the revelation that the Secret Service knew about the shooter, Thomas Crooks, 27 minutes prior to him shooting at the GOP nominee.

Key findings:

• The Secret Service was informed about Crooks’ presence on the AGR building 27 minutes before the attack.

• USSS counter snipers – including the one who shot and killed Crooks – were sent to the rally in response to “credible intelligence” of a threat.

• A Secret Service sniper spotted law enforcement rushing to the scene but failed to alert Trump’s team.

• Technical failures, including in radio communications and drone defense, left vulnerabilities.

Stonewalling: Despite requests, the committee claims key documents remain heavily redacted, hindering the investigation into needed reforms.

Big picture: The report found that Secret Service "had credible intelligence of a threat before the rally" and the shooting was "foreseeable" and "preventable."
