Wake Up Right - September 4, 2025

`

Good morning, Wake Up Right fam! A recent U.S. study found that declining birth rates are overwhelmingly on the progressive left, averaging 1.8 children compared to 2.7 for people on the right.
The study found that “the left’s lack of concern over falling birth rates is likely to be pushing societies in a more conservative direction.” Sounds good to me! 👍️

Rocket City

President Donald Trump announced that U.S. Space Command will move its headquarters from Colorado to Huntsville, Alabama – reversing a Biden-era decision that blocked the relocation.
The details: Speaking in the Oval Office surrounded by cabinet members and lawmakers, Trump announced Space Command’s move to Huntsville, saying it would “forever to be known from this point forward as ‘Rocket City.’”
The numbers: Trump noted the move will result in over 30,000 jobs for the state, and Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville noted that the relocation would save taxpayers $480 million.
Zoom out: Huntsville is home to the Redstone Arsenal U.S. Army base and NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, which already makes it a space and defense hub.
Back up: Trump first ordered the move during his first term after a lengthy Air Force review recommended the site. However, Biden reversed Trump’s order in 2023 after his military leaders claimed a relocation could “jeopardize readiness.”
The politics: Securing Space Command HQ is a major economic prize for its host state. Notably, Colorado is a blue state and Alabama is a red state.
Trump quipped at the signing: "We love Alabama. I only won it by about 47 points. I don’t think that influenced my decision, though, right?”
Context: Space Command was established in 1985 to oversee U.S. military missions in space. In 2019, President Trump folded it into his newly created Space Force, focusing on satellites, missile defense, and space security.

U.S. destroys Venezuelan drug vessel, killing eleven

President Donald Trump confirmed that U.S. forces struck and destroyed a Tren de Aragua (TdA) vessel in the southern Caribbean, killing nearly a dozen narco-terrorists moving drugs toward the U.S.
The details: In a Truth Social post, Trump said the strike occurred “on my orders” in international waters within U.S. Southern Command’s jurisdiction and “resulted in 11 terrorists killed.” No American troops were harmed.
Trump shared the news alongside a video of the vessel being taken out.
The target: TdA, designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization by Trump earlier this year, is tied to Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro and linked to mass murder, sex trafficking, and drug smuggling across the Americas.
Maduro: Attorney General Pam Bondi said: “Maduro uses foreign terrorist organizations… to bring deadly drugs and violence into our country. To date, the DEA has seized 30 tons of cocaine linked to Maduro and his associates, with nearly seven tons linked to Maduro himself.”
Last month, the U.S. doubled its bounty for information leading to Maduro's arrest – from $25 million to $50 million.
The numbers: Roughly 80,000 Americans died of a drug overdose in 2024.
Zoom out: In recent weeks, the U.S. Navy has deployed warships to the waters near Venezuela as part of Trump's mission to counter drug trafficking. Maduro, fearing a U.S. military operation against him, has deployed 15,000 troops to his border with Colombia.
Biden’s blind eye: Trump accused Joe Biden of letting TdA expand inside the U.S., saying cartels acted with “impunity” under his watch.
The last word goes to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who warned: “The President is going to be on offense against drug cartels.”

A few months ago, I was at a butcher in my neighborhood and saw a diagram of a cow, with all the cuts of meat labeled. And that gave me an idea for a t-shirt:
DOGE Butcher Shop — but instead of the cow, we use a pig. And the cuts of meat in the diagram represent all the waste, fraud, and abuse being butchered by the Trump admin.
Over the last few weeks, I worked with a really talented graphic designer who brought it to life. And on Friday I got a sample in the mail and I’m happy to say, it came out better than I’d hoped.
Also, my wife told me I had to mention that the t-shirt it’s printed on is Comfort Colors. Apparently, they’re well-known for high-quality materials. I just chose them because they are printed in the U.S. and made with 100 U.S. cotton.
