Good morning, Wake Up Right fam. There's an old saying [it's actually a Jay-Z lyric] that "Men lie. Women lie. Numbers don't." If that’s true, then Donald Trump should be very happy with a recent poll that found voters trust him over Kamala Harris on every single economic metric:
💵 Improving Americans' finances: Trump +9
✅ Overseeing the economy: Trump +9
💼 Handling job market: Trump +7
🏠️ Improving cost of living: Trump +6
📈 Stock market: Trump +15
The economy consistently ranks as voters’ top concern heading into the presidential election. If that holds true on election day, it bodes well for Trump.

💸 U.S. ran a $1.8 trillion federal deficit in fiscal 2024
🇧🇷 Brazil lifted its ban on Elon Musk's X

Hurricane Milton arrives

Hurricane Milton made landfall on Florida's west coast Wednesday evening, battering the state with heavy rains, dangerous winds, storm surge, and tornados.
The details: Milton touched down as a Category 3 hurricane, with winds clocked at 120 mph. But by early Thursday morning [I write this at 5:30 AM ET], it’s weakened to a Category 1 storm, exiting off Florida’s east coast into the Atlantic Ocean.
The aftermath: More than 3 million homes and businesses lost power. Several are already confirmed dead, and hundreds of homes have been destroyed.
Tampa received 11.43 inches of rainfall overnight, breaking the city’s monthly rainfall record [set in October 1922] in just one day.
Milton spawned over a dozen tornados, which caused several deaths.
Tropicana Field, home to Major League Baseball's Tampa Bay Rays, suffered major damage, with the roof being ripped off.
The positive: Densely-populated Tampa Bay, anticipating a direct hit, ended up spared as the hurricane moved slightly south.
Zoom out: Hurricane Milton came just two weeks after Florida was slammed by Hurricane Helene.
What comes next? As the day goes on, we’ll find out today what the extent of the destruction was, but Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has put the state in a strong position to tackle it after issuing the largest National Guard mobilization in the history of the state and staged over 50,000 utility workers to restore power.
Concerns over FEMA: We’ve reported on the lackluster federal response to Hurricane Helene. Gov. DeSantis spoke to people’s concerns that FEMA will create similar roadblocks and red tape after this story, saying:
"We run the show. FEMA's not running the show. You are not gonna see FEMA running amock in Florida. I'm the sheriff that's in charge here. And we will make sure to protect you; don't worry about it."

A solution to dangerous fluoridated water

For decades, local governments have been spiking your drinking water with fluoride…
Why? They claim it’s to fight tooth decay.
The truth is that fluoride is a waste product from making fertilizers.
It gets worse: In August, a U.S. government report found that drinking too much fluoridated water is linked to lower IQ in children.
You have options to protect yourself and your family. My personal favorite alternative is Freedom2o.
🇺🇸 They’re an America-first company that uses reverse osmosis, UV light, and ozonation to purify your water.
🌊 This ensures it’s free of fluoride, as well as microplastics and heavy metals.

Kamala Doug her hole, now she must answer for it

Three damning reports on the sexual and physical misconduct of Doug Emhoff, husband to Kamala Harris, have been published in recent weeks — yet the presidential hopeful has refused to address the allegations that are far worse than those she made against Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his Supreme Court confirmation hearing.
Back up: During Kavanaugh’s 2018 confirmation hearing, then-Senator Kamala Harris grilled him over the salacious and uncorroborated allegations that he sexually assaulted a classmate, Christine Blasey Ford, decades earlier, pressing him to take a polygraph test and pushing for an FBI investigation into the accusations.
First Creep: The three reports of physical and sexual misconduct all come from extensive reporting done by the Daily Mail in recent weeks:
Emhoff cheated on his first wife with their daughter's nanny and got her pregnant. Full article.
During a 2012 trip to France, Emhoff, while drunk, publicly struck his then-girlfriend in the face so hard that she spun around. Full article.
Emhoff engaged in "inappropriate" and "misogynistic" at work, according to former colleagues, including penalizing young female employees who did not flirt with him. Full article.
Kavanaugh vs. Doug: In the case of Kavanaugh, Kamala applied the “believe all women” standard despite every witness Ms. Ford named, including her lifelong friend, saying no such party occurred.
However, in the case of her husband, where each allegation has been corroborated by countless witnesses, the presidential hopeful is silent.
Blame the media: Kamala has appeared on 60 Minutes, The View, the Howard Stern Show, Stephen Colbert, and the Call Her Daddy podcast since the first two accusations were public, yet none of the hosts asked her about her husband assaulting his girlfriend. You would think, especially on a female-driven show like Call Her Daddy, that this would be important to viewers.
Likewise, mainstream media outlets like the NY Times still have not covered the stories.
The last word goes to Donald Trump, who ripped the media silence on the story, telling Ben Shapiro: “If that were me, it would be the greatest story in the last five years.”
