How to secure a border in 100 days

The greatest success of President Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office has been — without question — his job securing the United States’ southern border.

The details: On his first day in office, Trump issued an emergency declaration at our southern border, deploying 1,500 active-duty troops and 2,500 National Guard members.

Monthly border apprehensions under Trump provide a clear window into the U.S. immigration overhaul.

  • February: 8,347 apprehensions — down 94% from 2024

  • March: 7,181 apprehensions — down 95% from 2024

  • April: 6,500 apprehensions — down 96% from 2024

No more gotaways: The number of illegal aliens who evaded border enforcement and entered the country is down by 99%.

Deportations: ICE arrested 145,000 illegals in Trump's first three months in office — a 627% increase from Biden-era levels.

  • 139,000 of them were successfully deported — roughly 75% of whom were suspected or convicted criminals.

CBP One makeover: The Trump administration took Joe Biden's CBP One app — which he used to coordinate bringing illegals into the U.S. — and rebranded it into the CBP Home app, allowing illegals to self-deport.

Alien Enemies Act: Trump used the 18th-century law to quickly deport suspected gang members and expand Guantanamo Bay prison to detain up to 30,000 high-priority illegals.

Big picture: The border was a top issue for Trump in the 2024 election. Less than 100 days later, he can confidently tell his voters: Promises made. Promises kept.

Trump signs order requiring truck drivers speak English

President Trump signed a new executive order Monday mandating that all U.S. commercial truck drivers pass English literacy tests — a move aimed at keeping out roads safe and preserving jobs for American citizens.

The details: Trump’s order directs the Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to reverse an Obama-era rule that basically removed enforcement of the federal English proficiency requirement for truckers.

  • Truckers who can’t speak English will be sidelined.

  • The Department of Transportation will audit commercial driver’s licenses issued to non-citizens and crack down on credential fraud.

Zoom out: Trump signed an order in March declaring English the official language of the U.S.

Truckers approve: The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association says:

  • "OOIDA and the 150,000 truckers we proudly represent strongly support President Trump's decision to resume enforcement of English proficiency requirements for commercial drivers. Basic English skills are essential for reading critical road signs, understanding emergency instructions, and interacting with law enforcement. Road signs save lives—but only when they're understood."

Real talk from G: A fully loaded tractor-trailer typically weighs about 80,000 pounds. Now put that on a highway traveling at 70 mph. Too many lives are at risk to allow someone who can’t read road signs to operate that potential killing machine.

About two months ago, I was at a butcher in my neighborhood and saw a diagram of a cow, with all the cuts of meat labeled. And that gave me an idea for a t-shirt:

DOGE Butcher Shop — but instead of the cow, we use a pig. And the cuts of meat in the diagram represent all the waste, fraud, and abuse being butchered by the Trump admin.

Over the last few weeks, I worked with a really talented graphic designer who brought it to life. And on Friday I got a sample in the mail and I’m happy to say, it came out better than I’d hoped.

Also, my wife told me I had to mention that the t-shirt it’s printed on is Comfort Colors. Apparently, they’re well-known for high-quality materials. I just chose them because they are printed in the U.S. and made with 100 U.S. cotton.
